  1. Back home again safe n sound, bit cooler today with some light cloud cover, so bit of a love hate drive back.

Sunday quiet back roads, long undulating & fast, up on cam (new roller rockers working well too), full throltle VvvrrooommMM off we go, 6 cylinder on song, this is what the car was made for, I love my GT6.

Into a town, elderly / hungover drivers dwaldering about, oh no the temperatures going up, stay alive you b@stard, I hate my GT6.

Clear the town VrrooommmM were off, I love my GT6, repeat for endless villages & a few hours....

  2. It did it again in the mega Le Mans traffic jams.
Hot wire from the battery no differance, spare coil no differance, bottle of water over the filter king no differance, it took an hour to cool down this time, the only good thing about it was we saw most of the cars drive by to the club parking so didn't need to walk around the circuit so much.

  3. I think i have some wire in the boot to run another feed to the battery.

The dellortos have the cup washers fitted to the inlets so they are at the correct tightness.

Good point about the filter king i will try that.

Spoke with some locals last night they said there car was reading between  33 to 37 ambient temperature yesterday! The forecast was for 30.

  4. Yes 3 times so a 2_1/2 hr jouney took 6_1/2.
In the end i proped open the bonnet to get some airflow which helped but didn't cure it.
Took some temp readings, gauge at 75, carbs 40, Inlets 77,.dizzy 49, coil 49, spare coil 47, cant remember the fuel lines but they were not excessive.

  5. Marcus,
Been looking at louvres a few people will do them to your bonnet in the UK though most seem to want to weld in a louvre panel, which I'd rather not do.

Have you a photo of your bonnet vents?

  6. Had a look about trying to fit a manifold heat shield, not a lot of room or time before LMC, so next train of thought was to duct the aux fans, after a few card board templates the air flow down each side of the engine was much improved, so made a couple out of some scrap tin plate.

  7. Hi Nang,
I just have a red top fuel pump feeding a filter king then off to the triple carbs, so not circulating cooler fuel. Somehow I think it's not the fuel lines which are at fault.....I'm thinking more hot inlets.

  8. 2nd coil now in, I love tie wraps

Is there any reason the coil is mounted vertically upright, I seem to remember something back in the day about mounting them upside down so that the air was at the bottom of the canister away from the HV?

  9. Just been to look at the car in the dog house & the inlets are still quite warm, don't think it's the carbs as they have heatshields.
I'm going to take a laser thermometer with me for the trip to Le Mans if it does it again I'll take some temperature  readings.

No condenser fitted & the coil is stood off the block, has a heatshield & wrapped in Ali foil.

Tempted to mount a second coil on the valance, that would be a quick swap across if needed.

  10. Well the red one did it again in the MOT station this time, took ages for it to cool down enough to start again, so even with all my demon tweeks the problem is still there. Running out of ideas now, perhaps I should get louvres in the bonnet?
