I need to adjust my handbrake as the entire system is new. Right now I have to put it on the very last possible click for it to work.
Where is the best place to adjust the cable, right at the hand brake or at each wheel? Doing so at the handbrake is a pain as the whole assembly has to come apart.
('67 GT6, non-rotoflex)
yes it is, get the angle right on the quadrant then go to each wheel afterwards.
-
It does make a difference, about 2-3 clicks worth on the handbrake
I made a block with a semi circular hole to fit under the suspension works a treat.

Never heard of doing it like that before but it makes sense.

Nice work, keep it going
Welding is always a pain as you never know what you will find, but you are doing well.

Thanks for that gents, it explains why i can never get the handbrake right when i adjust it with the car up on jacks on the chassis.
Learn something new here all the time 🙂

I don't think your get it insured in France.

I would keep it out of the engine bay altogether.

Block check is good, it never lies, maybe your local garage has it?

Why all the secrecy?
-
Yeah, thats what the manual says & how i set it up.
Done away with the brick idea as they are hard to drill holes in for the rope needed to pull it off of the wheel whilst still in the car, a block of wood seems a better idea. -
Hi Clive,
adjusted the compensator as the first cable was a bit stretched, i also have the hand brake extenders on the drums, if it doesn't work better now i'll put a brick in the glove compartment.

I have manual adjusters on the bottom.
-
Oh well that probably explains why i have the manual ones then.
Need to try & get the hand brake better adjusted as it doesn't hold the car on steep hills. -
Looks like the self adjusting ones are NLA from Canleys & JP anyway (

Well i wasn't expecting to find this, looks like when i built the car 20 years ago i fitted non adjusting cylinders for some reason.
Do i have to change anything else apart from the cylinders? -
Going to check mine at the weekend as the hand brake isn't the best.
-
I've seen a servo mounted in the passengers glove box area before.

Me too!

Is the gasket in upside down?

I never knew that, bet mine are installed the wrong way then.

Ali rad, oil cooler, rad shrouds, valences, thermostat sleeve, cut back scuttle rubber to allow air out, stainless fuel pipes, carb heat shields & the latest mod extra fans to bring cool air in when the car is in traffic. It doesn't help that it gets hot here & I've triple side chokes.
