  1. Hello everybody   I'm currently rebuilding my 1970 mk3 spitfire Here is the problem Every time i'm turning the key, the starter is working fine, and the engine seems to start and rev, but as soon as i get my hands of the key, the engine shuts off instantly... I scratched my head around this problem, and carefully watch the electrical diagram to see if i made mistake wiring the ignition barrel, and it appears everything is fine on this side. (Brown wire on the 1 pole, 2 white wires on number 2, and a red/white wire on number 3) I tried switching the wire by rotating the order and now the engine starts and rev well (hand of the key) but the starter run continuously... I have a factory starter solenoid correctly wired... I realized that i had 3 "eyelet type" ground wires connected to nothing, they do not go on the solenoid positive battery lead pole neither on the starter lead pole. After carefully watching the wiring diagram i realized that the starter solenoid had to be grounded, so i attached those three ground wire to one of the fixing screws of the solenoid, but for now it doesn't seems to do much. It's like the starter won't shut off after the engine picks up or maybe my new ignition barrel doesn't work properly.   What do you guy think ?

  14. Hi ! I bought a basket case spitty mk3 from 1970, and i just noticed, that the hood frame (not fitted when i purchased the car) is a mkIV frame. The previous owner told me that he bought it new like that, and never changed the hood frame? So, is the previous owner has alzheimer, or is it possible for a very very late production MK3?
  15. Hi, i was just wondering How do you fit new grommets on the Lucas DR3A wiper motor ? I removed the old one by cutting them in half, but then i realized "how the hell it goes through the hole in the first place!" i'm talking about these grommets http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-17H5431X

  18. hi guys! it appears that i somehow lost the washer that fits right before the sloted nut on the diff pinion. On rimmer website it says Washer - Repair - 9/16 inch, what means repair? On canley the part  number is WP22 and is no longer available. Do you know the thickness of this washer? Because i really don't want to pay 100 quid for a spare diff just to get this damned washer. but i know i shouldn't have lost it in the first place!
  19. Hi, I was wondering, if the blue, red & orange light, are a factory option , or just a later addition? And i don't know the use of these 3! What do you think? ever seen one of those?
