Would love too, but can't make the date 😞 One of these years I'll make it to one of the Dutch rallies.

A really "productive" time in the garage, spending an hour looking for the part that fell off the work bench and somehow ended up in a box of parts even though I saw it hit the floor. FSCKING thing.

Well it turns out I've managed to accidentally buy yet another 3.89 MK IV diff that I thought was going to be a 3.63 1500 one.
Anyone got a 3.63 for sale? Not too bothered about lash/condition, really I only need the case and the crown wheel and pinion for building an LSD.

Got some decent quality manifold nuts from DMG and some decent heavy duty spring washers from a local supplier (Danlet/ https://www.bolts.co.uk/) and fitted the manifolds on the Spitfire. So much better than the scabby objects previously used.
Also replaced the re-used nyloc on the track-rod-end with a new one when they arrived.

Sam,
Decent length wheel studs there, excellent.
Are you fitting the arb again?
Thanks Tim! Been running Freelander studs since 2013! (https://yorkshire-spitfire.blogspot.com/2013/05/and-some-fitting-osr-done.html)
Yes, ARB will get refitted with new links of this type:
Cheers, Sam

bawbee
What's the current value? Is that a 3p bawbee or a 6p bawbee? 😉

Discovered during re-assembly the sodding track rod end on the Spitfire has a metric thread with an odd pitch.... which explains why I can't get a UNF nyloc to fit.
Re-used the old nyloc for now (when I finally found which one it was in the pile of old ones) but I've ordered replacements. M10x1.25 I think. (Hope!)

Today I put some oil in Toby's gearbox (it was, indeed, quite low) then went underneath to see if I could spot a leak. Nothing obvious on the gearbox, but the sump is missing two bolts. Unsurprisingly, it's the two that screw into the rear oil seal housing, and the alloy threads are completely stripped. I've got plenty of 5/16" UNF helicoils but from a brief inspection it looks like at very least a sump off job and quite possibly an engine out.
I have a "sumpy" oil leak on the Spit 1500... I'm just hoping it's not something similar or the crank rear seal. 😞 I removed the sump straightened the flange fitted a new gasket and was careful torquing the bolts. Time will tell if I still need engine out to sort it.

Hi Sam, did you have any success with these?
I can't say either way TBH, the bearings I bought are currently in a box with the parts of my spare gearbox ready for when I need them to either repair the current 'box or rebuild the spare.

Not looking good there Darren!

Last of the parts stripped off the spare Spitfire chassis - now to decide whether to have it shot blasted and see about getting it 100% OR assess whether it's a bit far gone for what I want.
Repairs to the chassis on the Spitfire itself painted and now ready (finally!) to reassemble everything.

'Oh dear it is broken' = Putain merde c'est foutu!
I suspect this isn't a direct translation... even with my meagre understanding of the French language words like merde and foutu stand out as not quite matching the English given 😉

What have you done recently?
Not a sodding thing. 😞 between health issues, illness, family and Christmas I haven't done anything in the garage in weeks.

If we get a place my co-driver will be a first timer.

Hi @DavidJWIDDOP, I'm just down on the North side of Halifax so not far away - just dealing with some health issues myself at the moment, but once I'm well I'll try and help.

@Wendy Dawes I was going to go back and correct the typo... but it's too funny. Those 4 think they are the gods of the house! 🙂

You can be Fuzz, we can do without that other plonker.
Ooooh no, that would never do! My wife can't stand him! ;-)

This… they should be ashamed of themselves. Garage without a timing light?! Really?
They are probably still trying to find the OBDII/Canbus port so they can plug their diagnostics in.

Looked him up on Facebook and dropped him a message as I'm just down the road in Halifax.
