  1. You can get repair panels for each side of the trans tunnel, mine was further gone so the panels wouldn't have been enough. when I took my carpets out my rear deck sounds like it was much the same as yours, I took a deep breath and took the cutting wheel to it. fabricated each side using cardboard templates. Then had to do some to the inner sills and used a tread panel from the above supplier on the passenger side, then found the drivers floor pan was patched, fibre glassed and filled! fitted a new floor pan. It just goes on...
  2. Search triumph hood metal socket kit, don't know how to copy link on an IPad. The rear deck is a common area to rot, my 13/60 had gone around the hood fastener holes and also inboard from the hinges, there is a strengthening panel under the area which has an anti vibration material between, this has been wet over a period of time and caused corrosion. The only way to strengthen it is to cut it out and weld new metal in. Any bodge isn't going to last any period of time and with water getting in will only cause problems in other areas. I don't think you can get a new rear deck panel.
  3. I have finally finished all the body repairs and welding on mine today, MX5 seats to fit next then inertia seat belts back and front, before I get on to footwell panels and radio. But appreciate all the tips and info on here.
  4. Just been reading this thread thanks for the tips, think I will make my own too. My 13/60 has cut outs in the door frame for speakers, is there any difference in sound between door mounted and footwell, just thought in a convertible I might have a chance of hearing something mounted in the doors 🙂
  5. Thanks will keep an eye on that 🙂
  6. Did you buy it new where from? I can do fettling 🙂
  7. I'm starting the re build soon and like all projects turning into a money pit, just thought £109 was a good price, failing that has anyone fitted a radiator from another make of car? I'm working my way through a list of stuff ready for getting it finished for the spring, this year hopefully! I live in Lancaster up north 🙂
  8. My radiator is shot been looking on eBay reconditioned seem to be from £200 upwards. I found some full width aluminium 2 row spitfire ones for £109 would this fit the 13/60. Anyone fitted one to a Spit any good?
  9. I have been looking at the threads on this subject, I think a possible solution to cut down on engineering and cutting would be to weld some 1" x 1/8 flat bar to the front of the channel around the back seat, this would effectively make it into box section adding strength. the flat bar could be let in at the top to allow the backseat overhang the channel as it sits now. Also the two pieces of channel which are vertical from floor to under the back seat channel could have 2" x 1/8 flat bar welded across this is also making a box section adding considerable strength. I will be looking into this as I have two grandsons who will need to be in car seats. Just an idea what do you think ?

    Rear wing top

Thanks for the replies, my first effort at forming a patch might be near enough if I use filler after, think I have been watching too many American classic car restoration programmes they do get perfection, but they do have all the gear and skills ! The rest of the body seems ok don't know why its rotted in this area, I want the paint job to last a while so want to make good repairs which will last. Great forum I have been reading up on posts and replies, I have had fun with the old girl but she needs tidying hope to have it done by next spring. Engine has been running ok but loosing water I suspect the head gasket as the water is brown but no sign of it in the oil.

    Rear wing top

Hi Nick, I have been trying to form a repair piece but struggling to get the shape as it also tapers, and to do it properly it should have a return flange to fit up to the panel running across the back. Just thought if I could get hold of an original part it would make a good repair. I'm limmited with the tooling I have, unless someone can recommend and forming tool ?

    Rear wing top

Hi, I have a 13/60 Herald convertable which I'm currently doing body repairs ready for a respray. The top part of the O/F side rear wing is rotten, I have cut the rot out and was hoping to find someone with a un repairable rear tub which might have this section ok. Trying to attach photo of the area.
