  1. Hello all,   Does anyone have the correct link for a wiring diagram for a MK3? Mines a 1970 with overdrive if that helps. I've had a look online but they do seem much of a muchness to my completely untrained eye.   Any help by pointing in a certain direction would be appreciated.   SP
  2. I'm in Northants, somewhere around here we have 2 engines. We've got 3 Mk3's in the family and we picked up the engines with donor car's along the rebuild process.   I need to speak with my father and find out the condition of each of them but I think If you'r looking to strip them down then there shouldnt be any issues. Let me know what you're looking to do and I'll find out where they are and what he wants for them.
  3. I think I may have 2 here somewhere, you looking for a complete engine?
  4. Cheers for the info Michael. It's like everything, you work exactly what you should have done after you've done it a different way 🙂 I'll be happy if the second half turns out like the first. If it deteriorates after a couple a couple of years I'll take it off and start again, just bead blasting it first. Thanks again SP
  5. Thanks for that Rob.  I've got the grill in two halves and basically I've realised on the half I've already done, I've done the correct process, in the wrong order. On the second half I'm going to polish the edges, then tape them then shave the tape with a sharp stanley blade. I can then primer etch, then rattle can and finally take off the tape.  If had a bigger compressor I'd use my bead blaster to do the initial strip back but mine is too small and it doesn't seem to work correctly. I think I'll compete this refurb then have another go in a couple of years. Do you put any lacquer on as some form of a top coat?   Cheers SP
  6. Yep Gibraltar, If I'm honest I think it may not happen now. It's such a big under taking and we'd have to have a back up crew for the journey there and back.  I'll give some thought to something a bit more realistic that we can do instead.
  7. Thanks for the comments guys. I've rubbed mine down with fine wire wool today (I bet i'll get told that was a big mistake). Primer etched it and I'm just letting it dry overnight before rattle can black tomorrow.   Rob, what did you polish the edges with, sorry.....serious pen pusher here.   Cheers   SP
  8. Hello All.   Anyone performed a restoration on their aluminium grill and are proud enough of it to give me a few tips?   Am I correct they were originally 2 colours? Black and Silver /Chrome? Any advice and pics would be greatly appreciated.   Cheers!! SP

    Valance help Please

is that to lift the valance brackets up from the chassis and therefore to bring the valance close to the bonnet? Because if it is I dont need them at all, just with I remembered where I removed them from SP
  10. Hello all, When I took off the old rotten valance fittings months ago I stupidly forgot where a particular item goes. Can you tell me where this goes please? I've looked through a few catalogues and cant seem to see where it goes. Thanks
  11. That could be important, I'm looking to put them on a Spitfire
  12. Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated
