  1. Hello everyone I already have a lumenition electronic ignition kit fitted to my mk2 spitfire,  but I think I have a dodgy set of HT leads on the car I'm looking to buy a new set, and a new coil, complete with a new dizzy cap and rotor also. What coil and HT leads are best for better running and efficiency? Thanks
  2. Probably quite simple, but I don't know. Took apart my thermostat housing to test my thermostat and it is opening up a treat as I warm it up in a pan of water. I've given it a good clean up too as it looks like the original one fitted to the car (brass) I see it has a jiggle pin, which way should I fit it back into the car? I don't know if it was facing the right way to begin with. Also whilst on this topic my car seems to take ages to get up to temperature. It was idling for about 15-20 mins with occasional revving (was trying to balance and set mixture) and the temp gauge hadn't even got 1/4 on the gauge. The gauge works as when I ground the wire out it goes to the top. Is there a way I can test the sender? Thanks
  3. The winder mechanism on the drivers door of my mk2 seems to have been bent out of shape, it still winds up and down but makes nasty sounds when doing so, on inspection I can see that a part of it has been completely bent around. Do other marks winders fit a mk2? Also should there be any felt/rubber trim that hold the front and rear edges of the glass in the metal guides? Finally the rubber trim and felt strip that goes at the top of the door, how is this supposed to be fixed in place? Thanks in advance
  4. Slightly off subject of my original question. But what is the best way to flush a fuel tank? My new inline fuel filter is clogged already and there seems to be loads of rust floating about in the tank.
  5. I have double checked. Both throttle spindles are operating at exactly the same time.  The dash pots have new 20w50 oil in also
  6. The dash pots have new oil in and the linkage is adjusted correctly too
  7. Ok I will try the hose method. They both move freely, just when I Rev the engine the back one doesn't lift up as high
  8. I don't have a carb balance meter or know anyone with one, I preferably don't want to have to buy one for a one off job. How can I balance my carbs, I notice the rear one, the piston doesn't rise the same rate as the front one, despite being cleaned throughly. No vacuum leaks either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  9. I've been told it could be a 1/8 bsp. It takes a 7/16 spanner

  11. My mk2 water pump has a bolt in the side that is apparently where greasing goes in. Does anyone know the thread size or even better where I can buy a grease nipple that will screw in here, so I can use a grease gun on it instead of having to pack it and screw it in all the time. I would upload a pic, but for some reason they are all too big on my iPad Thanks Alex

  13. Thinking of making an extra tank to fit in the boot, with a T connector and a valve into the main fuel line. Has anyone else made anything o can have a look at?
  14. regarding that pic light green looks like reverse light switch dark green looks like overdrive relay the cables in the black sleeving going up to the gearstick could be the overdrive switch and the yellow going off to the bottom/rear of the gearbox is probably for the overdrive actuator/solenoid Alex
