  1. Mine went the same after 500 miles. It was a thin silver gasket as supplied by the reconditioners that honed the bores, fitted new rings and reground the crank. I then bought a decent Payen gasket from Paddocks and a set of ARP studs and nuts (as I figured that in 30 odd years they had been used a few times 3 by me alone!) All back together and well over 500 miles on all seems fine.
  2. Bearings don't screech they hum usually. Spin the wheel and listen for roughness. It should be near silent except for the pads rubbing.
  3. I may have missed it but if that is happening should you not be using the spacer with that pump? My original (1500) used a spacer but it was obvious that the new one from Paddocks did not require it and it has been fine for years. Seeing as there are two types mabe you just need to space it a bit.
  4. My carpets always move and ruck despite lots of press studs. Get Moulded!
  5. Firstly as others have said, ditch the feed. I had one but after many such forum posts it went! Secondly pinking.Use ONLY Shell V Power Nitro plus fuel as it has the best octane. Other brands just don't work as well. Believe me I have experimented. Then get the timing right. I prefer to set statically but turn the dizzy so it runs faster. Then go for a run with a 7/16 spanner and tweek the dizzy  as needed until it is running well without pinking. However my dizzy may be slightly worn as I never really totally eradicated the pinking. Until that is, I fitted Pertronix electronic ignition and no more pinking! There is no spring loaded heel pressing on the centre shaft so timing remains more accurate. I hope this helps.
  6. I thought Spit and GT6 were similar.TSSC club shop does Moroe though.
  7. Just checked. Lots of KYB Gas a just for sale for Spitfire/gt6 just do a search. About £89 pair. I have KYB all round and they are really good.
  8. KYB gas a just. Brilliant. Have a chat with KYB as although they are not in the catalogue they still do them. I got mine from an eBay seller after ascertaining they were available.
  9. Worried, fitted a new clutch from James Paddock who I use all the time and has a good reputation. It was Powertune brand and was marked " made in Tiawan" on the box. It fitted fine and works smoothly but I am just worried about the Tiawan bit. Any experiences of this item anyone?

    Windscreen fitting

These are they and from a seller I have dealt with for a long time and trust http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/x4-TRIUMPH-Spitfire-GT6-DOOR-TOP-GLASS-WEATHERSTRIP-SEALS-Kit-/141367130159?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20ea23382f and a windscreel seal too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-Spitfire-MkIV-1500-GT6-Mk3-Windscreen-Rubber-Seal-1970-81-/191243601830?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c8701c7a6
  11. Replace. The only safe and sure way if siezed like that. You know it makes sense.

Don't forget the stainless trim guys! That needs to go on before the screen goes in and is a specialist jobby. Stainless too and not the later chrome plastic. Source one secondhand but do fit it. So much nicer with it on.
  13. Yes why bother with seals with the price of new cylinders?
  14. Well done but locks are rudimentary and pretty pointless on a convertible like ours. Not exactly secure with roof up or down are they? :)
