Have you checked the contact pattern?
Which diff - stag or saloon/estate?

Should be a serial number stamped somewhere, with a 2 or 3 letter prefix. The prefix can be decoded to discover the original application. The "Stag" diff I got sold had a MGA prefix, indicating it actually came from a 2.5 Estate.
