    Door cards

Hello all i was just wondering if anyone had a spare drivers side door card that i could buy? the covering on ours is in good condition but the card underneath has warped and the clip holes have all decayed so half of the card pulls away from the door. Thanks as ever for your kindly digging around in draws. Cheers Camilla
  2. thanks Bill i'm going to give them a ring today. Cheers
  3. alo sorry to resurrect an old thread but our car has just passed its MOT and the rhythmic knocking is still very much there. in fact its louder. from reading it seems leaving this fault is potentially catastrophic and i would like to get it sorted for our peace of mind. can anyone recommend a garage that's good for Triumph herald in the greater Bristol area? Or even any knowledgeable forum members in the Bristol area. we don't have a garage or necessary skills to get the car up and get the hardy spicer out and replaced. Any help is welcome. Cheers Camilla
  4. yes Colin it is the vertical flange that is missing. the ply panel keeps out the engine heat but as its not flush in lets in alot of engine smells and noise. :P Thanks Camilla
  5. hello is there supposed to be a fire plate at the end of the bulk head that meets the gearbox tunnel? Ours seems to have long since eroded or gone so we've done a make shift fix with some marine plywood. Cheers Camilla.
  6. hi all, thanks again. The garage in question seems to know what they are doing as they're always working on car's from the 40's all the way through to the 70's but i will definitely have a chat about the end float as recommended by Bill. presumably if it is just excess play caused by the end float that should be relatively inexpensive to chuck on an oversized circlip? Apologies if I've misunderstood anything. Cheers
  7. Thanks everyone for the responses. i think this is a little beyond either me or my partner. We use a little garage that services classic cars but i just wondered what people thought might be a reasonable price to have the half shaft ujoint replaced? I think we had the prop shaft ujoint replaced less than a year ago. thanks again Camilla
  8. Hello All as the subject suggests our Herald has developed a(reasonably) subtle, dull, rhythmic knocking. It appears to be coming from our passenger side wheel arch area. As you can imagine it is very slow in first and more frequent as you speed up. By 30 miles an hour it seems unnoticeable but this might be because of the general engine noise etc. Any ideas what this could be and if it might be benign or malignant? Thanks as ever for your brain powers Camilla.
  9. Thanks for looking. That would be great if that would work. Is it simple to cut? How much would you like for it? Thanks again for your help. Cheers Camilla
  10. Hi All i'm not sure if this is the right place to post but i was wondering if anyone had a spare front centre, rubber bumper for a 1200 that we could buy for beer money? we have the rest of the set and just missed one on eBay as we were on holiday. Thanks for all your help. Cheers Camilla
  11. Hello I was having a look at our scruffy bonnet and thinking the root of all evil is the drivers side wing panel. Rimmers sell it for £200 but wondered if anyone knew of cheaper or has a spare for a 1962 herald 1200 we could buy? Also, is it just welded on to the bonnet top? Cheers Camilla
  12. amazing. thanks very much for your help Bill. I'm going to get the drill out this weekend. cheers Camilla
  13. hi Bill thanks very much for posting the picture.  Could you say if where i have marked the picture is correct? Sorry to be a bit dim, i just want to make sure before i start drilling holes Cheers Camilla
  14. that will be absolutely amazing Bill. thanks for the help. All the best Camilla
  15. thanks again Bill. I'll have a look at the parcelshelf mounting. I was looking at the potential of Iso-fix for our herald but i wasnt sure if there would be any welding needed? additionally, i wasnt that confident of my boyfriend drilling holes under the seats if he cant see where they're going. the 3-point belt seems a more realistic option for us as the access to the three points is quite good. is there anything to avoid directly under the seats? Cheers Camilla
  16. Thanks again Bill. I don’t mean to be too demanding of your expertise but could you advise the top location you might affix the seatbelts? As you mentioned the opening for the spring provides good access for a first point and similarly there is a frame point that is easily accessed from the boot for the second lap point. I just can’t envisage where the top of the belt might go. could it be directly affixed to the parcel shelf? I would have thought it would be too weak? Thanks for your help.
  17. the inertia was thought favourable for potential childseat application. Would a static 3 point do just as well?
  18. what enginerring might be required for a saloon? does the frame need reinforcing? where can you put the reel? thanks
  19. Hi all Can you tell me if its possible to fit a 3-point inertia seatbelt in the back of a triumph herald 1200? we've got static 2-points in the front but dont think there are mounting points for the back? Cheers Camilla
  20. we had the same problem very recently. tried changing the brushes but to no avail and got a new regulator which also didnt help. got a new dynamo and all is right as rain. the field windings inside the old dynamo were in a pretty bad way. it probably could have been reconditioned but was beyond our expertise.
  21. what kind of level of expertise would you say this is? keen amatuer? i would really like to do it but dont fancy cracking it open and then rendering the whole thing useless. How long did it take? Cheers Camilla
  22. hi there can you let us know how your wiper motor functions after the clean and refurb. i was thinking about doing this for our herald as the wiper seem really quite slow - i accept that the car is 50 years old but our wipers take the proverbial. Cheers Camilla
  23. amazing! i only went and bloody did it! got the pulley and fan off in one piece and fitted the new dynamo. running like the proverbial dream. Is there a way to tell if it has been correctly polarised? i did as Keith instructed and its all working. just wondering if i've done it correctly as i'd rather it didnt melt our voltage regulator. Thanks Camilla
  24. What's your suggestion of a more dedicated oil? I don't fancy spending another £50 on another pulley and fan!
