Well having read so many other peoples forum threads over the years i though it was time to "give something back" so here goes, my spitfire 1500 restoration thread :-) So it all came about one thursday morning in January '14 - I stopped for petrol on the way to work at my normal place and the guy i always speak to but didnt know his name (you know what i mean) asked me if i was into old cars (pointing at my classic mini) yes, obviously. And manages to slip in to the conversation that he's looking to shift a spit that hes had for a few years but needs some work to get back on the road "if i know anyone looking". This then flapped about in my head all day at work and i stopped in for a topup the next morning. That sunday i go and have a look at it: more to follow....

Afternoon all OK so I've taken the head off this /77 1500 spitfire engine, which CLAIMED to have had an unleaded conversion at some point. And looking at it im not too sure... I was expecting there to be some sort of small ledge or obvious difference in metal, however the valve chamfer seems to blend seamlessly into the face (see photo) Having had a damn good scrape inside the throat of the exhaust port, i find there is a bit of a ridge (see other photo), but what i don't know is, is this a normal part of the casting, or is this likely to be the back of where the seat has been pressed in? I don't want to moan to the seller until i am sure either way... Thanks!!

OK so, i just pulled up on both windows, and they both just came straight out of the doors!! How are they supposed to be attached to the regulator / locator channel? (76' 1500 spitfest)

Morning all I'm looking for some door skins for a spitfire, and Radford Panels were recommended to me as they also do half floors at a damn good price. Any experiences with their panels? good / bad / indifferent?
