  1. One of the Locals here in Wellington has converted his stag to PI and I think he used a lot of Ford falcon componentry.  The work was done by a guy named dave who runs powerhaus here in Wellington (I imagine they have a website)  Powerhaus specialise in European cars and I believe dave owns a stag.
  2. My car does that too, Ive been told that Im going to need new tyres soon so will get it sorted at the ame time hopefully.  Tyres are old and apparantly are starting to show small cracks in the side walls.  Hopefully that will be the problem sorted, but i expect it may something contributing to it.
  3. didnt realise that there is virtually nothing behind the back of the back seat.  I know this is the case with the mk1 2000 saloons and I have heard of one case where a stael panel has been added and welded in to add more strength - this was for a targa Tour car though.  Not sure if it would add much value in the stag case though given that other than at the sdies and the bottom there is nothing to attach it to and so probably wouldnt add much strength or benefit the addition of rear horizontal seatbelts.
  4. Also mine is a 1975 mk2 and an australian spec car which im led to believe are the same as the american spec cars?  I wonder if they had seat belt fittings when they came out?

    Rear Seat Belts

Hi All I need to fit rear seat belts to my stag fairly urgently.  Can anyone send me a reasonably detailed description of how to do this?  I understand that its not particulkarly difficult and that some of the required fittings are already in the car.  I want to fit the recoil type belts.  Any thoughts please to alastair.cox@nzqa.govt.nz cheers Alastair Cox
  6. Havent seen or heard of this stag in a long time - wonder what happened to it?
  7. Should i need to be using spring compressors to do this?  I found that my spring compressors wouldnt ccompres the spring/shock to the point where it came any where near the 4 mounting points on the hub assembly.  bigger job than I thought it would be - but then am used to working on a Hillman Imp.. So in the end got a mobile mechanic to do it.
  8. Hi all have replaced my front shocks and am looking at how I reassemble the suspension and reattach the struts to the front hubs.  Seems the only way is to compress the springs right down and then reattach the bottom end to the strut.  Have tried compressing the spring using the trolley track but the car is not heavy enought to compress the spring sufficienty.  So back out with the spring compressors then.
  9. Hi All The car I am getting this week wont have a battery.  What spec battery should I get?  Anything recommended? cheers Alastair
  10. Hi All The Mk1 (1969) I am getting (which now looks like I am not going to be able to get delivered till late april) has a vast steering wheel.  I would like to get something a little smaller and considering the vast range sf steering wheels triumph made there should be something suitable. Am I right in thinking that the s/wheel out of a stag is the same as a dolomite? Is that the same as a PI wheel?  Given that the car dosent have PAS im thinking that something about 15" would be suitable?   Would I have any problems fitting a smaller wheel to a mk1.  Recommendations ? Thoughts? cheers Alastair
  11. Thanks I just need some basic tyres to get car up and running and to get a warrant - will go to superlites and approrpiate tyres further down the track hopefully.  hopefully my tyre guy will have something suitable. Cheers Alastair
  12. Can any one tell me what the spec is for standard tyres and wheels for a 1969 mk1 2000 saloon. cheers alastair
