  1. I had one that this had been done to which I used for parts. You also need to shave a bit of the front tub hole to fit the gearbox and the rear tub to fit drive coupling. Your speedo will need to be re-calibrated if you don't want tickets and the radiator needs to be fitted further forward. I still have the radiator, drive-shaft and exhaust but it would cost a bit to get it to you.
  2. I've done a bit of research and we have a gd engine which should have the "Hot" cam from the 12/50 engine. I also have a 2 inch exhaust pipe that could fit and there is a 2 inch 4/2/1 manifold available. Could I bolt all this on and improve the power.
  3. We don't want to go down the engine swap option as here in NZ you have to get this certified and give lots of money to someone just so they can say it's safe. WE had a 2000 engine that would fit but decided to stick with the 4 pot. From what I can tell it's the 48hp engine that came out just before the 12/50. It's registered as a 1968 1200 estate so one of the last 1200's made. Had been stripped down to the chassis before we got it and we have since fitted disc brakes to the front and vitesse seats. also mgf wheels and are giving it the woody look. My sons project(his first car)
  4. WE have a 1200 estate and are thinking of ways to up the performance a little. can we swap the solex carb for twin su carbs from a 13/60 and if we do would we have to also swap the exhaust manifold?
  5. Ok still not sure. have the head number which is 517528. Carbs appear horizontal to the block. Acid didn't help any as to finding a number. The head doesn't have swaged-in tubes. Have included gearbox pics
  6. We got this in a dereged car that we got for parts and where assured that the engine had been reconditioned. We got it running before we took it out and she ran very well easy reving and lots of grunt, almost too much.It had been done properly as it had been registed with the engine in as a 2ltr. The main things we wanted where the steering and disc brakes and interior as it had Leather seats that where in good condition and the seats we had where trash. That said we have looked at selling engine but no bites so now its a case of do we put it in the estate and make it into a vitesse estate or do we keep it original. Remembering that this is my Son's first car. Will attach more photos. It looks like there is a Tab at the back of head and no sign of a block number
  7. So does that mean it's a vitesse/gt6 engine or a saloon engine? I'm kind of new to this and need things explained in simple words. The things we do for our Kids Trying to stay one step ahead of my son.
  8. The carbs are 2 bolt and the head seems to be pretty close to 85mm
  9. The number on the block has been removed when it was refurbished but I think the number on the head is 517528 if that helps
  10. Please tell me is any other angles are needed
