  1. Mabel the 1250 Herald gets her new Webasto . Amazing bargain from eBay . And the Seller was a real Gent . Had to modify the front rail for the catch . Lovely fit
  2. Good luck Chaps . Happy to give you some charity money and whatever is lying around in the garage for spares (not much specific 1300 stuff I’m afraid) . Post your just giving page ( or whatever you are using ) here and link to FB pages . You will have the time of your life I’m sure
  3. Dear Members Please stop and give a thought to all the CT event organisers without whom we would have no RBRR’s ,10CR’s , C2C’s Border Raiders , Rallies , Auto Solos ,camping weekends etc etc and to those who work tirelessly in the background. CT is completely run by volunteers with no salaries or expenses. It’s a huge time and brainpower commitment and all done for you guys whether you choose to take part or not . Then there’s the Magazine and the static events , the website ,FB , etc that all need planning and moderating or editing. I could go on but I’m preparing for another brilliant days driving courtesy of The Border Raiders team!
  4. A minutes silence was held at the start of the Border Raiders for Nuala Dowie and Paul Darbyshire who have been sadly taken from us since last years event . Chris gave a moving speech reminding us all of both Nuala’s and Paul’s contributions to our Club events both recently and back over many years. RIP Nuala and Paul
  5. Olaf is Ready for the 1st leg of the 2022 Border Raiders up to Lancaster having come across 105 miles from Lincoln to Wendy’s in Cannock yesterday evening . All packed and fluids, lights, tyres checked this morning. Love this event which is so different from some of the others with great driving with no pressure and overnight stays if you want them for the start and the finish as well as the Saturday Night . Mick Davies finds brilliant and challenging roads and Chris and the other organisers are always lovely . After the fabulous weekend at Gaydon in July I hope we are lucky with the weather !
  6. Thank you Guys . Please be on site by 0930 as there is no movement allowed within the Museum once it is open to the public . You will see me in the car park waving my arms about lol . Should be a great day !
  7. Can anyone tell me the Code for the Needles that Chris Witor sells for HS6 carbs which give good economy across the range please . He lists three types . thank you darren
  8. Dear all I have received confirmation that CT will be able to display vehicles at the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum, East Kirkby , Lincolnshire on Monday 29th August 2022 ( Bank Holiday Monday) . The Museum restores WW2 Era planes and is the home to ‘Just Jayne’ a fully restored AVRO Lancaster which will be ‘taxiing’ along the runway on the day providing opportunities for some great pictures with the Club cars . If you would like to display your car please be in the Museum car park for 09.30 hrs . Cars arriving after 10am will not be admitted to the airfield for safety reasons . A discounted entry will apply dependant on how many cars attend . The museum contains static displays of WW2 life at home and in the services and has a fully equipped workshop where visitors can view the Museum’s latest restoration. A De Haviland Mosquito ! There is plenty to see and a fully equipped Naafi for refreshments. The museum also sells a range of aviation inspired collectibles which make great presents! . Please let me know if you are definitely attending . It takes around 2-3 hours to see the museum plus so it’s a great day out !
  9. Spent some time up in East Lincolnshire on Saturday with Luke Johnson fitting a new Engine mount , topping up the gearbox and Diff and greasing all the mechanicals . Tweaked the front brake back plates . And Waxoyled some bits on the underside . Huge Thanks to Luke and Andy
  10. Hi Sam , don’t know if I mentioned it but my restorer Nick is going to attempt to fashion a complete inner plastic wheel arch for my Dolly I’ll keep you posted !
  11. As you can see below The Log or Amy my 1978 Dolly 1500 has had some work around its snout ! Nick is still beavering away and hopefully I’ll have more news and pics soon . In other matters I’ve found a brand new old stock correct front badge for his year and May treat myself to a remanufactured rear 1500HL badge . I’ve found a lovely set of MGZS all black leather seats . The fronts bolt straight in and the rears will need some fettling and I’ll let you know how I get on in due course . It’s been almost a year since I put the new wheels on and I’ve hardly driven the car . I’ve sourced a replacement engine which came from a known source and is reputed to have covered just 29000 miles ! This will be carefully inspected and if as good as it sounds Happy days!
  12. Been busy this morning fitting a new fuel pump and replacing a couple of rubber fuel lines . Old pump decidedly tired and may have been leaking . I praised the fact that he’s a 2500 and not a four pot as the retaining nuts are far more accessible and do not require the removal of the starter motor !

  14. Hi all . West Mids have arranged a visit to The Great British Car Journey museum in Belper Derbyshire on Sunday 15th May they will be running a lovely route to the museum from Sainsburys car park in Ripley DE53QP departing at 10am . The route is the 1st half of the Derwent Valley New year run from this year and is very nice and suitable for all Triumphs and Classics . Rendezvous at the museum at approximately 11.30 . All welcome even if your Classic is broken !
  15. Hi all I’ve negotiated a Club display on August Bank Holiday Monday at East Kirkby Aviation Museum. The home of one of British aviations greatest aeroplanes ‘Just Jayne’ a very nearly airworthy Lancaster bomber . The plane has been meticulously restored and is not far short of its airworthiness certification. So this may be your last chance to aim the bouncing bomb , navigate or Co drive it up and down the runway! It’s not cheap and must be booked in advance on www.lincsaviation.co.uk . Otherwise being a ‘show’ day it’s a tenner per head (for adults) to get into the museum. It’s a great day out but a great opportunity to park your big saloon or Spitfire on the side of the runway and get a picture to remember always . Please be there by 10am so I can wave my arms about and get you all positioned. Only Triumphs on the airfield but everyone is welcome . A show and shine with a chance to look at some fantastic British engineering. Moderators please feel free to turn the pics the right way up!
  16. This event is organised by a local group . As such the organisers have the right to select from a list of people that are members of that group in the first instance and those that have previously supported it . It’s a fabulous event and superbly organised please get your entries in if you would like to take part. You will not regret it. It is less arduous than some CT events and has a wonderful sociable aspect .
  17. I’ve done a ‘basic’ tune on the Damson Dog and it’s idling better but the general running is not right . The car drives strongly but I think the old distributor has had its day as it pinks one minute and not the next under similar conditions. Thinking back that’s the reason I took it out of Olaf so possibly failing mechanically. Do other peoples engines struggle to cope with electric fans ? As soon as it cuts in the engine struggles to idle and stalls making static tuning a bit of a chore . IMG_2640.MOV
  18. What’s really Nice is Danny Hopkins has been to the stand and arranged to do a feature on Callan’s Estate for Practical Classics ,
  19. Hi everyone we are beavering away at the NEC but had a Proud moment this morning when Chris Allen presented Callan Hyde with the Mel Evans ‘Welshman Trophy’ as Club enthusiast of the year .
  20. Latest pictures show reconstruction of inner headlight support panels . New offside wing has been delivered so some datum points to work to for Nick .
