  1. I’ve sent Nick a 3D model ! IMG_2288.MOV
  2. The evidence is clear ! A big scrape mark around the inside of the dizzy! …. And the washer fell out !
  3. I plead guilty as charged your Worship (it’s only a summary matter) .. I’ve known that dizzy was destined for the parts bin for weeks! Lol
  4. It begins ! A budget has been worked out and the restoration has begun … watch this space for pictures as the story unfolds . I’ve left it upside down as that will be the view that Nick has off it for the next few weeks!
  5. Errant washer! Looking at that video there’s a whole lot of play in that rotor .
  6. I’d thought for a while that Wendy’s Heralds rough running and restarting problems might be points/condenser related but I was un prepared for the weird curveball she threw me yesterday . On Close examination the points were completely knackered with a divot on one face and a raised ‘nipple ‘ on the other . I managed to drop the condenser retaining screw twice , once of the floor , in the dark eventually finding it caught in the chassis and then into the body of the dizzy . I removed the top plate screw and fished it out ok but there was also a flat washer retaining the points which must have slipped down the gap whilst I was getting the screw out . All fitted up with a new cap ( what a pain with a DM2) car started and ran beautifully . Until it started making a clicking noise . Shut it off and lifted the cap . No damage so checked the cap was seated properly and started her up again . It ran silent for a minute then the distributor span 90 degrees and the engine stopped . Plug no 3 sheered off as it was hit by the revolving Dizzy ! Closer examination revealed the washer had jammed the dizzy bob weights and no lasting harm was done … at least Wendy learnt how to do static timing ! … new electronic dizzy and 25D domed lid with sensible leads and a new coil on order … it was planned any way as there is play in the bush of the DM2 . 7. All in all a very busy year with the cars . Olaf got a new PAS rack , then nearly drowned and had a major service with all the carbs removed and cleaned ready for an epic RBRR. Then finished off with a lovely run out to Stafford . Also got loads of videos . The log had a whole heap of work to the brakes, suspension and rebuilt carbs plus an electronic distributor, new engine and gearbox mounts . A highlight was helping Wendy to get that MOT for Mabel . The Border Raiders is always a favourite and nursing Chris’s 2000 Auto through the C2C was special . Brilliant fun all of it . A great year with special thanks to Andy and Sarah Johnson and Luke and Abbie , Wendy of course and all the lads at Lincolnshire Triumphs . Must mention Our Lincoln Breakfast meeting and trip to the bubble car Museum. Thanks also to Mike Charlton and Chris Reynolds, Chris Shaw and the RBRR team . An epic year ! …. IMG_2075.MOV

  13. Been Xmas shopping for the log with a stunning front bumper compete with under riders and brackets, a set of wooden door cappings, and a whole set of boot linings . Even picked up an immaculate centre consul and gearstick gaiter . Top haul !
  14. Would anyone like to keep a record of the Vincent Hurricane? These days Data protection prevents us from holding personal details but nothing prevents us from inviting you to post pictures of your steeds and letting other members getting in touch with you through your E mail if you choose to leave it on the thread . Kevins car was such a star on the CT stand at the NEC and it was visited by the stars of many of our TV shows!
  15. Brilliant interview with our Club DVLA liaison officer Kevin Hagger and his stunning Hurricane.
  16. Interview from the NEC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjOelY7GjBQ
  17. The log having completed its 5th RBRR is now ensconced in Essex for hot spannering with Nick Peskett who restored Olaf to rude health in 2018 . Not much going on at the moment as Nick has a big paying Resto on and is working flat out on that with The Log as a ‘fill in’ job . So progress will be steady rather than spectacular so I will post pictures as the work progresses. I’m pleased to report that the log is started up every day though and ferried around the yard . I’ve also encouraged Nick to run about in it to keep it in good fettle.
  18. Must get my car out this weekend! Olaf has been stuck in the garage since the RBRR. I’ve been fettling a Herald 12/50 that’s been dormant since 1996 for my girlfriend Wendy and we have got it through an MOT . The Flying Log has gone down south to Essex to be fettled with the hot spanner’s . More on that soon but I’m missing my driving a Triumph fix !
  19. I should add my own car has been on the stand , it’s shiny and it’s done three RBRRS, a 10CR , two C2C’s Two Border Raiders and countless other CT events over my 11 years of ownership it’s also done a host of outdoor events . We do our best lol . As for Kevin’s Hurricane it has been finished after a ten year build so have him a chance lol

  21. Yes Cars to show is the point of the thread to give people the chance to get theirs on the Shows team books . And yes We have featured RBRR cars regularly. Different shows have different needs and often the big shows have a theme. We also like to consider significant anniversaries for the Club or specific models. Cars used for events have featured but they are better suited to natural light rather than the critical electrical light of the NEC . The November show always has at least three pristine examples when we can get them because they draw people in and that’s the whole point of attending .. to attract new members. The MG and Triumph show often has daily drivers . And the Restoration show has well . Restoration projects. There is not a specific show to display Cars used in Club comps for example but many that are are also shiny and this year we featured Mike Charlton’s car which is just out of restoration but has been all over Europe on CT events and done many GB based ones . Next years NEC will feature modified cars and most of them have featured in CT events as well .
  22. Mable fettled and enjoying a run out with West Mids Group to the Spotgate Inn . Hilderstone Stafford. ,
