  1. Hi all . Hope you have some plans for drive it day on the 24th April . West Mids group are planning to travel to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire for a 10am arrival . Park a car full for a fiver, have a Picnic and chat with friends or visit the House or Gardens . All are welcome to join us . 2. This car flys when it’s on song . Just needs a really good tune and a set of the proper wiper blades . Andy (Shed Tune) has done a proper job on the drivetrain . I reckon a good session on a rolling road and it will take the 10CR in its stride .
  3. Hi everyone, we will have live entertainment at the National weekend at Gaydon on Saturday 10th July with two evening sessions from Syn City Rockers . This is Mark Smiths Band and they do Thin Lizzy and AC/DC covers and have a great reputation. Look them up on Facebook and Lemon Rock . With the BL day on the Sunday it’s shaping up to be the best CT / TRDC gathering yet! Hope to see as many of you as possibly . Camp with us or Hotel nearby . Look out for the article in this months Club Torque

  5. I realised that I hadn’t tried the Dog under load with the new Dizzy so I went back this afternoon, cranked her up and warmed her through so that the electric fan started functioning just to see if the revs dipped , just for good measure I tried this with the headlights IMG_2493.MOV IMG_2493.MOV IMG_2494.MOV blazing .. all good . Revs do drop with the fan but the tickover stays steady .
  6. Today I fitted Olaf’s old electronic Dizzy to The dog . First turn of the key and seems to run smoother on tickover . Revs nice too! IMG_2490.MOV
  7. That looks a nice package . If it’s a CP block it would have the same power as a V8
  8. Red Manual / Overdrive Stag with. A full 2500 PI conversion on EBay . interesting looking car Series 2 with nice interior .
  9. Hi All CT have offered to support the World Cup Rally 50 yrs (+2) show at Gaydon on Sunday 1st May with some Marshals. Nothing too taxing ! There is a CT parking area . If you are available please give me a ring or message me on the Forum
  10. After a month skewif in the shed The Damson Dog started up and ran . Tweaked the carbs for a few more revs and it’s running a little better . Replacement front bonnet surround trims have made the front end a little smoother . Straightened it up to make access considerably easier. Next job is to swap the distributor over to an Accuspark spare one from Olaf’s boot … don’t tell Ashley he’s strictly a points man but he never reads the forum !
  11. Colin you do have the room in your garden for some trees ….. you might have to move some triumphs though lol
  12. My sticker is on its way Should be entitled Tree-V
  13. Thank you everyone , I am aware of many of the concerns, V Tree are actually a subsidiary of the Morris Minor Owners Club their admin costs are as low as they can be and they are working with the Federation of which CT is a member . Wayne Scott is something to do with it through his job at the FBHVC and of course Wayne is an RBRR stalwart . I've made Tim Bancroft aware of the scheme and he was also very interested. I know that the jury is out and many people believe that our cars have paid their dues over the years and are in some cases, preventing the need to make more new cars, (Where most of the Carbon production associated with any vehicle is released). That is why this post is entitled, 'personal choice' . The Club is considering levying a charge on some of its driving events and announcements are pending but they will all be on a voluntary basis with exemptions under certain circumstances .
  14. As we look forward to the new season with our classic cars . I am personally aware that the Green lobby have a big voice these days and some members of the public are very vocal in condemning the continued use of our cars . The impact of the Carbon emissions of entire Classic car movement in the UK is actually very small in comparison with the total. I have heard that we contribute less than 1% . We do however not have to pay Vehicle Excise Duty or have our vehicles inspected in an MOT once a year ( although I voted against that change) I have been waiting for a plausible Carbon Offset scheme to come along and Chris Shaw has been doing a ton of research on this subject . The Federation of British Historic Vehicles have launched such a scheme and After talking to Chris I have decided to sign up . The scheme’s top Mileage allowance is currently 3000 per annum which is about right for me at the moment. Chris is asking about whether the scheme will be providing a higher mileage bracket and he is reporting to the Club Committee. I am taking up this scheme because I do not want the UK legislature to go the way of some European nations which are knee jerking and severely restricting Classic car usage. I will have a bumper sticker to show you all when it arrives . The cost for 3000 Miles in 2022 was £48.76 website address shown below .
  15. Dear All Just a quick message to let you all know how much is going on behind the scenes at CT at the moment . Although things may appear calm on the surface there is a huge body of work taking shape in the background. Mike Bishop with aid from Tony Pulis and others is busy updating the Club policies with regard to GDPR , safeguarding and other important matters . Dale ,Mike and Ellis have also produced a range of ‘one size fits all’ , event templates to help in the setting up of events that need MSUK and other approval. This itself is designed to make the whole process easier . An even bigger task is being tackled by Chris Shaw in respect of Environmental issues and the continued use of our cars into the future. This issue was flagged some 18 months ago by our President who is keeping his eye firmly on the ball . This work is necessary to help prevent some of the Draconian measures being adopted in Europe on the use of our cars . Chris is working with the Federation of British Historic Vehicles and other stakeholders to put CT in a better position . I should add that the Federation have looked to us because of our history of distance driving events . The Committee review all these matters monthly . The Club Dinner plans are progressing nicely Ashley is putting his heart and soul into pulling it together. It will be great to see so many CT members gathered without restrictions! Clive Senior and Craig Gingell are working through the website and forum , constantly tweaking and improving functionality for the Committee and you, our members . The finance team are into their busy period ensuring the yearly returns are with our accountant for submission to The tax man . As for me I’m going round in circles as well with repairs to my ancient and modern motors plus throwing loads of cash at the Flying Log .. I’m really looking forward to bringing news of its progress to you all in the coming months. Then there are the minutes of the many meetings and the Secretary’s Notes plus pouring over maps for future exciting adventures with the Triumphs of course. Tina and Andy have been revising the shop on the website having done sterling work clearing the old Club show stand equipment from the very packed storeroom . All these wonderful people do all this for the love of cars . My most sincere thanks to them all .
  16. Not the first time she’s been out in 2022 but a confidence building 12 miles around Cannock Chase . Up and down the hills … Electronic distributor and new leads fitted prior to Christmas performed faultlessly. No untoward noises from the rebuilt gearbox (apart from the un-synchromesh ones of course ) . She is really tight for a Herald with very few squeaks and rattles . The Delaney Galley heater valve has freed off after a long soak in WD 40 so we even had heat! Next job is to fit the new old stock Boomerang mirrors that Wendy found on line . Lots of admirers waving and smiling .

  18. Hi Sam , yes I’ve got my feelers out , I looked at the Dolomite Club but I’m not a member so I cannot view anything in their shop . Im already a member of 4 car Clubs and don’t want to join another . CT is more than enough to keep me busy on its own! and Joining a Club should be a free choice in my opinion .
  19. Paid Nick and the log a visit in Essex yesterday to take him a pile of parts ! Has anyone got the panel in front of the bonnet ? The log’s is very , very rotten .
  20. Couldn’t put this direct on FB but may be of interest to our Members Bridge Classic Cars sorry can’t copy the link but look them up
  21. Picked up the Shed this lunchtime with Ashley Mills and Wendy Dawes . Currently on the return journey . Big thanks to Andy Pearce . Spent yesterday mucking out its new home … plenty of horses in there !
  22. There are indeed . I will get to the finding a suitable date stage when I’ve spoken to the Club Committee at the end of the month.
