Fuel pouring out my carb jets when cars turned off so I’ve had to order new ones. Waiting for them to arrive and then that’s my next job. Also ordered a throttle cable as mines frayed on the end.
Strange thing is I know I have a spare cable as I ordered it when I had one break. The one that’s fitted was fitted temporarily about 5 years ago after the one on the car snapped 🤣. This one was taken off due to being frayed once already 🤷🏼♂️🙄

And the windscreen finisher on, looks unfinished without it.
My car didn’t have a screen finisher when we got it in 2002. I didn’t realise it was meant to until I was putting it all back together after I painted it in 2011/12.

Worst mod to Alex's car, those blasted stripes!
Wow you just don’t care do you!
You and I both know my spitfires amazing 😘 -
1144 pads are great and work right from the off. I’ve never had brake fade but then I’m no race driver either ….

I am guessing that is the same John Bonnett that produced a very nice body for a GT6 (Spitfire?)
Yep

Lots of parts sourced today for The Johnson Fleet.
Lovely to see Doug Foreman today and speak of very happy memories of the First 10CR 2003, celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year and the ‘Two Fat Ladies’ as they fondly became known by….that is Doug and Colin.
How many countries did they cover that year ? 🤔

Looking again at the pictures I wonder if the bonnet needs lifting on the front N/S …..
The second picture the shut line appears closer at the bottom than the top. By lifting the N/S front you’ll actually open the gap at the bottom and hopefully equalise the entire gap but possibly push the off side in a bit too.

That’s a gorgeous looking car and looks to be in very good visual order.
The roof unfortunately is way to slack and does need rectifying…. Wants warming up and stretching to fit properly( I’m no expert though).
I’ve not played with an early bonnet other than a herald as my spitfire is a 1500.
If it’s like a herald there is adjustment though …. Someone will help I’m sure.
Please don’t get hung up on what you paid if you did it for the right reasons then it’s not too much. Sentimentality is why many of us keep ploughing money into our cars after all.

I've been pilloried before for saying this, so please hear me out! The RBRR is potentially dangerous, and grossly out with any commercial driving regulations. Reports of extreme tiredness are usual, and there was one of a participant driving home afterwards, who felt tired and drove into a service area to get a coffee. But fell asleep before they could get out of their car!
Some have seen my previous posts on this as anti-RBRR. Far from it! I want this wonderful event to continue, and fear that just one incident that the Authorities decide is due to fatigue could lead to it being banned forever. Please, when you take part, arrange to have a sleep before you drive home? Just a couple of hours would restore you!
John
Are we really going start this all up again!
John, I was the one you are using as your example. I did indeed fall asleep in the services without getting out of my car. I did not stop for coffee! I stopped to sleep in my car. Please stop talking rubbish and put this to bed once and for all. I’m a hgv driver, I know when I’m too tired to drive and am quite capable of parking my car/lorry and having a sleep. This is the responsible thing to do!- 3

we went to see her today, they have fitted a new rear spring and trying to fathom out why they can't get rid of the positive camber it is quite severe, is this normal? will just weight in the boot sort it? they were talking about repainting the old spring and putting that back on? I had been looking in the forum to see if there were any posts regarding this.
Has it been driven since fitting?
You can get lowering blocks that fit between the spring and the differential to lower the rear….. is it a standard spring or swing spring conversion?

So my first run was in 2004 with my good friend Gwaredd ( well we were good friends at the start).
This will be my 10th run and the cars 6th I believe….. It’s come a long way since the first run, and it had to go a long way to actually be fit to start that one!
Gwaredd and I are friends😂 again so he’s up for round 2. We’re almost 20 years older and hopefully both relaxed a bit 🤣😂- 6

I'm about to find out if Halfords will honour their guarantee!
I have a short, 3/8" ratchet extension that has a spring loaded ball bearing in the tip to retain the socket. The spring is released by a small button on the shaft - and the button has broken! The part is from the 'Professional' range, so next time I go into H's I'll see what they have to say and report back.
Sad to say, VR, I got mine from a different supplier, who offers only a lifetime guarantee that is allied with taxes.
John
I believe you have to provide the receipt of purchase.

"2 year guarantee"?? That's very poor for Halfords! Their Professional range has - or had - a lifetime guarantee - your lifetime!
But as I said this isn’t a pro set it’s a basic range. It just happens to look the same as my original pro set.

Have a really good look at them as sometimes they look rubbish on the surface but are still solid inside and well bonded to the backing plates...
I think that’s why I decided against changing them before…. I reckon I got the new ones when I redid the engine. Maybe 2013…. it’s done at least 2 round britains since then 😂
I think I’ll fit the new ones but keep the old ones as spares. If the new ones fail I’ll fit the old ones and leave alone.
thanks👍

Just had a route around in the heralds garage/ tent. Found my new engine mounts!
No idea where I got them, maybe stoneleigh, maybe paddocks 🤷🏼♂️Not a clue but I’ll fit them and see how long they last. I’ll keep my old knackered ones as back up.
Thanks for the responses 👍
What have you done recently or are planning to do soon to your Triumph?

Changed the jets today and the throttle cable.
Strangely I had to adjust all the linkages as the cable must have been slightly longer. Still not 100% happy but will readjust again once I’ve done some miles.
Next job is get all the front end set up and adjusted.
