Hello TOG. I'll be very happy to share whatever information I have with you but it may not be appropriate on a Triumph forum. I'll drop you a PM and we can continue privately. To open the pm click on the message notification below your name on the top right hand corner of the opening page.
cheers
John
Can't imagine you'd get many complaints from anyone here John.......anything people learn can be a benefit in some way at some point in time.

Classic electrics are pretty simple to understand and work on......apparently!
Not my experience though I hate them I bet there's loads of people on here that would pay for things like having relays put in for their lights and such like.
Trouble is with our cars being relatively low value is cost of paying 'experts'.
If you go for it ....and I'd say it's got to be worth a go,why not change your signature too include your service, location and contact info? -
David manners say 14 days for a manifold £300.... not sure how that compares but maybe worth a call?
Wow just compared to paddocks price.....£145 + vat! -
Anything stopping it being inside behind the dash?
-
Tim, my tankard was empty.....please remedy this situation next time I see you

A couple of years ago I was mis-diagnosed with sarcoma. Scary times, fortunately for me about 6 weeks later I was re-diagnosed with a benign tumour.
That was lucky.....
Unfortunately Ann isn't so lucky, she's had another scan this week and her lung tumours are growing.
-
One of my oldest friends that I grew up with and have remain close friends with is currently fighting terminal cancer.
Shes 42 the same as me, has two daughters and a husband.
Hers all started with a swollen leg and progressed to almost having it amputated due to a tumour on the vein wall( sarcoma).
They cut the vein out and put in a graft......this failed and had to be done again.
She got sepsis and nearly died last June.....august she was on the home straight waiting to go home.....end of September she had a scan and was told she now had terminal cancer as she has tumours on both lungs.
She was told she'll be lucky to see xmas 2017.
Currently looking forward to chemo in possibly in the next few months......
Sarcoma isn't a word I'd heard before......and wish I'd never heard.

If it's not broke then why fix it?
If people are looking for change why don't they just re invent the wheel or something? -

I thought it was great and had an old school type feel.....how I'd imagine a pit stop on a proper night rally if that makes sense?
Shame no toilets for the ladies but you can't have everything and I know the ladies in our particular group were aware of this beforehand. -
I think your right pete, I think the fog was in 08
-
Nicks vitesse ready to go hahaha
No seats, no roof( actually that didn't matter after all) engine not run in and tightened down...... Faulty electrics....dodgy headlights..... Needed total checking over as even the front links are greased -
That's pathetic David......if that's all you had to do why didn't you use it this year....... I'm shaking my head
-
I've been thinking about this over the last couple of days......
This years run other than a distributor failing and a water pump that's looking poorly it's been pretty much trouble free. The distributor showed no signs of failing it just stalled and that was it.......swapped and off we went!
So next years entry...... Polish it so stickers don't damage the paint and go I guess? -
Every year there's something and at the start we all get advised of this.
Let's try and remember the organisers are also getting cars ready and don't need to be wiping our butts for us too -
Quoted from AndyF
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The challenge is to drive 2000 miles in 48 hours via the set checkpoints. Some roads will be closed and others not as expected. I think it is a little unfair to expect the organisers to make any statement at this late stage.
Just get on with it and be grateful that we have modern technology that allows us to be forewarned. In the previous 40 years you would have been driving blind with just a map to improvise with.
Enjoy 🙂

Couldn't agree more.... Get over it and look at a map! -
I thought I was ready.......silly me,where's the fun in that!
Whilst putting rain X on the screening lifted the wipers and noticed the n/s was loose......very loose.
The only thing stopping the spindle being inside the car was the arm!
Bit of fiddling about had the other spitfire relieved of its spindle and it's now sorted......(tried a herald one but the spindle is shorter.....shame as I have a few of them).
Just means I'll need to buy one for the blue car later.
Must make a list of what I've robbed.....this is the trouble with getting a back up car ready at the last minute!
Just need to balance the carbs now. -

Looking into it, there's a set of (200 185x14 tyres for sale on the forum.
Pleased to hear it ......yours are shocking for a Rbrr! 😉 -
Quoted from Richard B
Just checked my 2016 MOT, no advisory on the tyres. 😎
If that's the case I'd be checking the brakes too..... Did the mot man actually look at your car? -
Quoted from Richard B
I know another team swapping out their diff today.
But at least he has good tyres........ -
Nice turn out of cars today, the standard of cars is great!
Looking forward to the start now.....
Good luck to all the crews still battling to get ready!
So nice to see all the friendly faces, some I don't see from on rbr to the next but I count as mates none the less! -
Noticed one car with tyres older than the youngest drivers, mentioning no names though.........
-
Also if you are on agreed value and someone else drives it on their policy you have no agreed value!
Door hinge and striker plate gasket material

I’m looking for suggestions for the best thing to use for door hinge and striker gaskets.
I’m thinking a bit thicker than a cereal box? Any thoughts as to how thick it should be?
Thank you in advance
