I don’t think anyone got to speak to Phil at Gledrid!
🙂
Hopefully there are some stickers left for him.

Also, would it be possible to fit spacer without removing spring again?
Yes, studs out, slide spacer in.

Back to 2023, we had total failure of the rear dampers as we went across the top of Scotland, became slightly bouncy, but much more comfortable in the back.
We had a “ failed to start” after filling up just before Popham, bump start and wiggle of wires on starter fixed it at Popham.
Other issues were a dodgy earth causing 1 dip beam to go and off randomly Friday night, didn’t do it Saturday.
Slight weep from water pump, blower on heater didn’t work (poor pre-event testing), centre prop bearing started to get noisy. Brake servo intermittently made brakes pulse.
nothing that needed major repair during the run.

In 2021 we heard the ominous sound of failing UJ in a 2000 driveshaft.
we voted to ignore it until it got worse, it didn’t. uJ was utterly mullered when I investigated post event.
Same co-driver and I changed a drive shaft on his TR6 on an10CR in high 30’s heat.
Recon hub and the wheel started to come off, tightened and it came loose again.
I always carry a drive shaft, have 3 of the varying lengths ready to go at home.

I used to hang a hankie over the non- dipping mirror in my car. Allows you to know something is behind you, but reduces glare.
luckily the Sprint had a dipping mirror this time.

You could try fitting helper sucker pump to see if that helps, even better if it feeds a swirl pot, which ISTR is omitted on the estate.
That it has been fine for 10+ years, now playing up says perhaps pump is getting near EOL?

The other cart was faster, think the lady was a wannabe Pat Moss / Michelle Mouton.
She didn’t even lift as we entered the trees, hanging on for grim death on the back.

How to Join was posted on the CT forum.
Did see that, seemed to be a small group to discuss what spares were available in a breakdown, certainly did not come over as a replacement fir the old message board.
None of this helps someone not taking part from keeping up with the entrants, and specific ones of course.
back to just sending text messages to interested parties and perhaps WhatsApp messages direct to individuals I guess.
we also put a few photos on our Just Giving page.
Perhaps the time has come fir live vehicle tracking with people having to give status?

Lots going on and still ongoing on the What’sapp RBRR 2023 Plebs Chat.
What’s that?
The only WhatsApp I knew about was the organisers only notification group.

Martins Stag. That’s interesting. I wonder if the Canley classic ones were made by CDD?
Don’t think so. They used a 1500fwd joint on outside ISTR. Not sure about inner joint.

I used to like the old message board that Keith setup, but nobody really used it and nothing equivalent was setup on new site, everyone had just migrated to FB.
Looks like this year even FB was out of favour, hardly anything there, or perhaps FB are filtering lots of it out.

Anything at RallyDesign do the job?

There are other platforms that charge considerably less.
Sadly the ones that charged nothing have closed down.

Sometimes things go wrong.
I'm in the brakes issues solving and i ordered brakes pads for my Pi Mk 2 at LIMORA. I secretely wished that it could be easier and cheaper from Germany than from GB... NOOOOOOOO
The link to the pads https://www.limora.com/fr/mintex-plaquettes-de-frein/13376/ you see, description (2000 & 2500) and picture are correct, but they look like this.
Does anyone of you know on which other cars i can find the right pads (search by model)?
Thanks
Try MGB. I purchased some Mintex 1144 ones from NL a few years ago.

I had to move the slider to zero twice before confirming payment. It awful that a charity should be allowed make an extra unauthorised charge charge
Just giving is a business that wants to make a profit for its owners.
Charities like it as it saves them admin.
there are other options.

I would have thought there would be lock tabs on the fan bolts, certainly is on the 6-cal cars.

Time to get the big screwdriver out, put it against your ear and then against the engine to listen and hopefully narrow down the source.
or just buy some earplugs 🙂

We were discussing this last night. The private land starts quite a way from the bit that will be controlled, so plenty of time to go under cover. And reverse it after leaving.

Get the Marshalls to put bags over the cameras?
If not I guess we all need to remove our number plates just prior to arrival.

All correct, push / pull handle opposite direction to that which opens it, it will lock.

I suspect repair is only way to go. Estate roofs rot the rear pillars really badly, also front and rear edges.
buckets of wax afterwards!

I've been beavering away at the mk3 Spitfire when times allows, new head gasket and Mini Spares flanged nuts (thanks Clive & Nick for the tip) after developing a weep at Castle Combe track in May. Then a new clutch master cylinder, then swapped to a better-calibrated speedo.
Took for a good run up to the Midlands the other weekend and the speedo stopped working after 13 miles - cable no longer turning. Took the interior bits out on Sunday and found the speedo angle drive cable stub had sheared, because the speedometer had jammed.
Replaced angle drive and think i've fixed the jammy clock.
Looks like you may have been missing the spacer washer. Was there one? Is there one now?
