Looks like Chris has revamped his spring range.
I would ring him up and see what matches what used to be inch lower non-progressive springs.
the 205/400 are his current progressive offering.
looks like 575 are the rear ones, assuming they are inch lower.

I have Piranhas in a couple of my cars, all have needed dry joints dealing with.
the big transistor has also failed on one of them, easily replaced
also make sure it’s getting 12v if you are using a ballasted system, easily wired into the feed wrongly.

Been checking, every code board was seen by someone today, so I think they were all still there.
Last 11 still there, 1 of them was only seen by me as I picked it up!

Results as requested.
Tim / Pierre - TR4 - 29F
Clive / Gill - Spitfire - 21F
Steve // Richard - 2.5 - 17F
Nigel / Dale - 2000 - 14F
Leighton / Alison - 2.5 - 11F (8F + 3F)
Mark / Mike - Spitfire - 10F
Leighton and Alison had 3 fails for being past due time, Mike and Mark were well inside due time. Both crews completed the route, the rest cut towards the end.
I have been out collecting the boards on the last 1/3, and all were still in place except 1 dummy board that was there earlier as 1 crew recorded it, will collect rest in next few days, see how many went missing.
We had expected some crews to just leave as early as possible and plot in sections, on way round.
Looks like the drivers had a good time, slipping and sliding round the lanes of Essex and Suffolk, not so sure about the navigators!
And one final thing for a few of you.... READ THE FINALS!!! There may be a clue or 2 in there, it cost a few of you a fail.

Make sure your J-type has the adapter fitted to allow you to screw the angle drive to if you intend to use one, J-types do not always use them in Triumph applications

We went to Skeggy in the middle of the night, it didn’t improve the experience.

Wow that is cheap.

There is one thing to catch you out, fitting a 3-rail bell housing to a single rail gearbox will result in an inability to select some gears, needs the hole for the single rail to go into.
Never had any issues with the 3-rail, had wear in the single rail selectors.

Found this web site.
https://www.import-car.info/worth-it/
Applies to newer cars though.
Most important thing seems to be the NOVA certificate from people I know who have imported cars

There are a few Japanese cars with right PCD.
I had a set of Mitsubishi Sapporo wheels on my PI, for about 10 minutes.

Get them in quick!
We need to hit a minimum entry to make it viable (as usual)
We are going to try to change the balance between plotting and driving, slightly less emphasis on the former, slightly more on the latter.
Any questions, ask away.

My thoughts is you have 24 hours to drive what is being done in 8 at the moment, so you can stop and smell the roses so to speak. More nicer, but slower, roads, time to stop for lunch etc without worrying you will be late getting to hotel.

You can still camp if you wish John…. Most prefer not to it seems. Apart from the last night at Rolduc. Hasn’t been driving all night since 2011 though. It’s not as hard-core as it was.
I wonder if it is time for a reset, and go back to the hard-core (and much cheaper!!) days, also make it more relaxing as you can cover the distance at a much slower pace.

Are you intending on leaving it in Uk permanently?
I think it is also different as you would be re-importing it, as it was exported from UK originally.

When I needed to fix a mainshaft a few years ago I followed an article in the Courier magazine for grinding out input shaft, grinding a few thou off main shaft tip and fitting a caged bearing with inner and outer races.
The place that did the machining work for me did struggle on the work on the input shaft.
Wondered if they didn’t have correct tool.
They also drilled the oil hole through having fitted outer race (possibly with loctite)
Anyway, Worked a treat.
If you want a better reverse idler gear, may have one in box I stripped last week looking for a main shaft for Mike Charlton.
Mainshaft showed early signs of wear.
Cheers

Mike has an early Mk4 Spitfire d-type box in hIs car from talking to him yesterday. So a bit of confusion in the description.
And hopefully he is making some progress to a fix.

I always thought there was just 1 company that does all the European recovery and transportation, so maybe the difference is the way the UK broker drives them?
I know the AA and similar use same transportation company, and you are tied to the same rules on value and total costs of recovery limits.

Just discovered you can create a Pay as You Go account with multiple cars - I have all three on my account now to avoid any problems in the future. Vehicles can be added and removed as necessary. Cost is zero but there are no discounts on the standard charges & the driver is responsible for checking that the charge has been taken every time.

Never had any issues with my Dartford Crossing account. Got every car on it, so never forget.
never even thought to check if they take the money, if not taken they clearly didn’t read the plates!!!
account auto tops up with a tenner when it drops low.
And it saves 50p a crossing I think.
Check you haven’t signed up for a hooky site Howard.

I am now rapidly coming to the conclusion that motoring/motoring holidays are becoming a tedious affair. When you look at all the do`s and don`ts of driving from having to have a UK sticker instead of a GB sticker to viewing where and when you can drive, it takes the enjoyment out of driving. Remembering the first few years of care free driving on the continent to now having to carry a briefcase of rules and regulations......it depresses me no end.
You need a UK sticker?
i just wrote UK on a bit of paper and wedged it behind the bog roll on the parcel shelf.
