Just got back to Surrey after an 8 hour recovery from the road to Bude.
Exiting a roundabout i had a noise and no drive,i now know this was the shaft spinning in the hub, then the rear wheel, brake drum and the end of the shaft departed into the ditch.
rear quarter knacked, exhaust knacked, brake backplate and various damage underneath.
Gutted i didn`t finish and sorry to Bill Goodwin for his first DNF.
Put the Vitesse away and shut the door for a couple of weeks.

Its looking likely that my co driver wont make next week ,although this isn`t 100% yet i thought i would see if there is any one out there who might fill in if i need it.
I will be using my 2.5 Mk 1 Vitesse convertible,i am 46 and live in Surrey.
Please post or PM me.I hope to know by Sunday if there is a seat spare.
Cheers

After the run up the M40 to Gaydon today in torrential rain i found out my hood leaks like a sieve around the header rail and rear of the windows.
I have a hardtop but prefer it with the roof down.

Got new spare tyre fitted, had the fronts balanced to try to cure the steering wheel shake at 70mph.
Fitted new freelander U/J to the driveshaft, greased the hubs, topped up the diff.
Just got to top up the gearbox and wire in a 12v socket and that`s all i am going to do.
See how it goes on Sunday.

Hope they have them in FB size.

I have a 2.5 Vitesse with a TR5 cam on HS6 carbs, not lumpy at all if set up properly,i`m running a CR of 10:1 with a little breathing work on the head and a tubular manifold.
It will pull from 1000 rpm in overdrive top no problem and peak power was 173 bhp at 5500 on the rollers.
