  1. Thanks...Plan to use steveGT6's help with the real thing and my 3D CAD to model up and then make one in my workshop. 😎
  2. Thanks again Steve. With yours and Johns help plus a good look at my manual the light bulb has gone on above my head   The part I am looking for is item 15 and 16 which as you say bolt onto the car in addition to the welded in one. Steve...I've sent you a PM Cheers
  3. Another photo showing the boot area.
  4. Item 16 is the 'bracket' or 'cross beam' and item 15 is the 'luggage board'
  5. Thanks John, The cross beam on my mk2 next to the petrol tank is welded to the arches and looks like its factory ie nice spot welds and painted in the original factory paint. The TSSC website link in my previous post above shows a photo where the standard cross beam is missing and another one is further forward closer to the front seats. This cross beam looks the same as it has similar holes. The manual talks about the new cross beam as part of the kit you bought to fit the seat along with longer boot floor boards.
  6. Hi Steve, Thanks for the offer but being in dear ole Devon its a bit of a trek 🙂 I was hoping for some photos of the cross beam that the hinges fit too and dimensions for its position. I have the standard cross beam which is welded onto the body. I think I need another cross beam further forward.
  7. They might be handy for reference...thanks
  8. I found this rather useful link on the TSSC site... http://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/modelnews_final.asp?modelnews_ID=6&model=Triumph%20GT6%20Mark%20III
  9. Hi all, GT6 MK2 rear seat I managed to pick up a very nice GT6 rear seat back+squab from a TSSC member local to me. Unfortunately I don't have the cross member it fits to. I wondered if anyone can help with a picture of what it looks like and more importantly where its located. Dimensions and measurements please. I also believe the seats are slightly different between models...can any one shed some light on this too?
  10. Thanks John. I moved it to one side as shown in the manual and aligned the torsion bars. Alls well now and the tailgate opens very well now. Thanks all
  11. Thanks everyone. Springs appear to be okay and not broken. Heres a photo...
  12. Sorry if this has been discussed before... My tailgate spring doesn't have the muscle power to hold up the tailgate. Is there an adjustment or do the springs need renewing. Any advise gratefully received, thanks And before anyone asks no I don't need lengths of wood or sponge hats...just a working tailgate 🙂
  13. Thanks Clive, Nick for your help. Cheers Jon
  14. A good friend of mine is looking at buying a mk3 Spitfire that has a GK herald 13/60 engine fitted. It does have the Spitfire twin SUs. Question 1. Is this a negative on its value 2. How easy is it to get a Spitfire mk3 engine or block 3. This engine number is GK***LESS. What does the LESS mean...low compression? He is looking to get the car back to original specification and also obtain an overdrive box.
  15. Just dug through the forum looking for help with my horn earth and found this post....cheers all, I've fixed mine with a new UJ earth wire and as I have a MotaLita wheel I bought one of their bespoke horn contacts...Fixed...toot toot https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/accessories/pencil-contact/
  16. Great to use everywhere....behind the rear lights...rear of bumpers...behind the headlamp bowls....etc etc 🙂
  17. Hi Mark, That's why the chain lube is good as it has a high temp rating...it stays on motorcycle chains in hot weather and I've never had any issues with it. Cheers Jon
  18. I use motorcycle chain lube spray when fitting trim as it goes very sticky and stops water getting into the seams. Its easy to clean off with WD40 at anytime. Worked very well when I had my Z650 preserving the chrome wire wheels over the winter months. I like the plastic clip idea....do you have any more details on that?
  19. I like the look of the smart roadster seats.....they would look good if trimmed in Triumph basket weave vinyl.
  20. Do Porsche seats fit...they are nice and slimline
  21. Thanks...the QH ones at £37.98 sound like just the ticket for my current requirement for MOT....Long term a CV Kit would be on the cards
  22. Can anyone point me in the direction of the Nick Jones CV conversion?
  23. Thanks everyone for your advice....CT members always come up trumps 🙂 Not looked into the CV route yet...I'll do some research. My immediate requirement is to get it MOT'd and roadworthy for the summer so for the short term I might just get the cheapies and do the CV swap when I fully restore it.
  24. Please can anyone advise me on what the best approach is on changing the rotoflex donuts is. The Rimmer price is either £245 genuine or £72 pattern part. My choice is to go for the original but as its not a daily driver it seems like a luxury choice. Your experience of either would be very helpful. Cheers
  25. Complete GT6 Mk2 door with all the trim, glass, quarterlight, handles and hinges = 22kg Standard GT6 4-1/2J steel wheel (no tyre) = 6.3kg
