  1. Hi Mark, I agree and I've always had good service from them in the past, this one was a bit odd though and I felt left out on a limb. Hopefully all sorted now and I can get the GT6 running again 🙂
  2. Be careful ordering from James Paddock as the customer service is a bit odd. The parts arrived okay but the exhaust fitting kit was missing a few vital parts and had some additional bits that I didn't need. After a phone call to what I can only describe as a typical British storeman I have managed to get the missing parts by referring to the Triumph manual and descriptions....grrrr
  3. I looked around all the usual sources including your suggestions and decided on getting all the parts I needed from James Paddock as they are very good on price and delivery, I even treated myself to one of those ABS gearbox covers to tidy up the interior and stop the nasty draughts and smells. 😉
  4. Thanks Don, I'll have a look at them too. Thanks for the info on the centre silencer as i have been contemplating fitting one. The mk2 doesn't have one as standard.
  5. Thanks Peter, I'll take a look. I have just found and purchased a second-hand nearly new SS silencer for £30, bargain 🙂, so now I just need to buy the front two pipes and associated brackets etc.
  6. Here is a wiring diagram from the Haynes manual that might help. Your looking for 20 ROOF LAMP, 21 TAILGATE SWITCH, 22 DOOR SWITCH x2 and 23 FACIA SWITCH P= Purple PW = Purple/White
  7. Longlife now want £500 to fit an exhaust as they don't have any patterns for the transverse rear silencer so have to make one from scratch. Back to the drawing board and I'll go back to an off the shelf one now.
  8. Hi I've been passed the following dimensions... Rear Silencer Length 24" x width 8" x height 4" Rear tail pipe diameter 1-3/4" Main exhaust tube diameter 2"
  9. Hi All, I'm still hoping someone can let me know the dimensions for a standard exhaust....please as I am having a custom exhaust made to match to look of the standard. Rear Silencer Length x width x height Rear tail pipe diameter Main exhaust tube diameter Thanks
  10. Don't forget to fit a inertia type switch to stop the pump in an accident.
  11. Thanks everyone and for the PM's. I trawled through the other posts and consensus is that Koni are the best option and stay away from the chassis conversion. On looking at my shocks in detail they are in fact okay and not leaking. Just a small bit of surface rust that I'll clean up and paint. That'll get me back on the road. Long term I'll invest in some Koni. Cheers
  12. Hi, apologies if this has been discussed before, I just wanted the latest info. I have the standard shock set up on the rear of my Mk2 GT6. The shocks now need replacing and I have not been able to find standard replacements. I've been considering the chassis mounted conversion as this looks like good value at £112. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I'm trying to keep the costs down on this at the moment and would like to keep the ride as comfy as possible. Thanks
  13. The boss will fit all small chassis Triumphs ie Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire, GT6 also Bond Equipe. It will also fit cars fitted with the Triumph steering column and from memory that will be early Lotus Elan and Marcos. Probably fit loads of kit cars from the 70's and 80s too 🙂 I've just fitted a Mota-Lita leather rimmed wheel I bought back in 1980s to my GT6 Mk2. To get the horn working I bought the Mota-Lita horn contact which is much better than the Triumph pencil 🙂
  14. Great news and price. I was quoted £90 to fit so I decided to have a go myself. Did they use any sealer?
  15. I thought you would need the following... http://www.frost.co.uk/car-car.....stallation-tool.html
  16. I've just finished fitting the glass back into a freshly painted tailgate, it took me a few hours but I managed it on my own with damaging anything. I have a new chrome trim from Rimmers which I haven't fitted yet as I need to buy the correct tool. Sounds like it might not fit as well as I hoped 🙁
  17. I plan to remove the stainless sports exhaust and sell it...pm me if your interested 🙂
  18. Rather than buying an off the shelf standard exhaust from one of the well known spares specialists I am looking into buying a custom made to measure one from... https://www.longlife.co.uk/classic-vintage-vehicles They have a branch local to me and for the same price as the off the shelf one I can have it made and fitted including subtle tweaks to the tailpipes. Supplied and fitted £320 My question is this....please can someone measure the standard rear GT6 silencer for length and height, the tailpipe external diameter and the main pipe diameter. Thanks
  19. Good to hear that I'm not the only one who finds the latest prices worrying for all us enthusiasts out there. My rear wings were deseamed back in the 70s and I'm very keen on restoring them back to original specification. These wings and inner panels would of been ideal but it's too pricey for me. Although the pattern wings and outer arches price up at just over £600 and as we know they need work to make them fit
  20. I could do with all these parts but the funds won't stretch that far unfortunately
  21. I've no connection to this but thought you would all be interested..... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMP.....967555578?nav=SEARCH
  22. Thanks Cook1e, great article by the way and helped me get my head around what's going on with the rear seat conversion. I have an early mk2 1969 with the long rear deck.
  23. What about a side exit....with the added bonus of heated seats too... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQPRVei48Bg
  24. Many thanks that's excellent info....like the 'yard stick' good old imperial measurement just as I like it 🙂 My torsion springs have an unpainted patch in that location so I have used that to align the clamp. Its in the same position as shown in your photo, cheers
