  1. Can anyone give me some advise on wheel nuts for use with Minator alloys (not sure if that makes a difference) I;ve had a quik look but there seems to be so many sizes and tapers etc. It's going onto a Spitfire 1500 with standard hubs
  2. Yeah the bush was more than stubborn, the insert came out virtually welded to the bolt. Where as Ive spent time getting all of the bush out I now know I can just remove the outer which should hopefully be easier!
  3. sorry I meant on the existing rubber ones I am removing there is an outer sleeve for me to remove?
  4. I've just received my full poly bush set but realized it doesnt include rear mounting bushes (117578), this isnt a problem as I know I cant get some.  I am a bit curious however, the original rubbers ones, do they have a metal outer tube, I've removed just about all of the old one but haven't noticed an outer tube.  Hopefully someone can help me and let me know FYI, here is the Rimmer Bros diagram http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005729
  5. There should be a clamp around the pipe that goes to the center (link) pipe and also a couple of bolts (one on each side of the exhaust) that go to a rubber hanger.  Undo all of these and the exhaust should come off eventually

I agree with the points raised about a central rear mount but other considerations have had to take priority. Even with it offset I'm convinced it would be better protection that the standard belts. The only way you are really going to know for sure is find out the hard way unfortunately. Any chance of some pictures Sparky just to see what its like with the offset
  7. You are a gent, thankyou very much michael_charlton wrote: When its out tomorrow....
  8. That sounds like exactly what I am looking for, can you post pics of your set-up and also the fixing point at the rear. I know it's a pain taking the board off but it would really help (whistle) michael_charlton wrote: Its not what they look like ,its the effect when you come to an abrupt halt My three point are fitted as follows Eye bolts in lieu of the existing bolts in the tunnel and sill side floor bolts .So that two The third: remove back board covering tank, create a square hole in the board, in line with seat centre Drill and fit reinforced plates and eye bolts into bodywork going over the diff ( the raised portion just below the tank Feed belt clasp through both square cut outs and refit board One strap either side of the head rest and each strap from tunnel and floor, and there you are Not only looks right but works right   In certain environments (scrutineers) they have to be fitted correctly
  9. Thanks for the replies guy, do any of you have any pictures of your set ups and also what types so seats you are using and do you have any issues with the soft top catching them?
  10. I know it wont be to everyones taste but my seatbelts are looking a bit raggy and I really fancy fitting a 3 or 4 point race harness in my Spitfire 1500. Does anyone have any experience of this and can you tell me how you mounted it or even better have some pics
  11. Thought that may be the case, thanks I'll get it taken out tonight
  12. I am stripping down the Spit to tidy remove the body tub I have come to the drivers side section of the dash and am a bit stuck on choke cable, how do I remove the knob or is it a case of disconnecting the cable from the carbs and un threading from there?
  13. Thanks for all the tips guys.  How many people will I need to lift the tub off the chasis? Thanks Alan, I am based in Darlington, not sure where you are? If anyone has any posts of their tubs rolled over/propped up that would be great

  15. I am wanting to get to the underside of my Spitfire 1500, I was thinking about taking off the body tub but was wondering what the best way to turn over the body to get to the underside is.  Also would I need to leave the doors on? I dont have a rotisserie and dont want to buy expensive frames as I wont use it again I doubt. Any ideas would be great thanks

  17. Also I have noticed there seems to be two different type. One with a plastic resiviour that is as 90 degrees to the cylonder and the order which seems to have a metal resiviour and is slightly on an angle to the cylinder. Can you advise which is ideal on a 1500 spitfire
  18. I replaced the seals on my brake master cylinder a while ago but think the clutch one could also do with it so was just going to buy new ones of both. I have looked on Ebay and they seem to have master cylinders that look like my clutch mc bu are listed as brake/clutch. My brake one currently has a bigger resivoir than the clutch one, will there be any problems if I use a smaller one for both?
  19. Ive seen these previously and wondered.  Is it just a case of fitting them, cut the cill, extend it out then just weld the sill back up? I know that sounds very simplistic and you have to check the doors etc but Im just checking this is it in a round about way?
