Anyone know where to get an LSD for a 1500 spitfire? Only suppliers I can see are Quaife (then I have to build it myself) or Moss (out of stock)

I had this problem after replacement of the adjusters. The new ones are bigger than the originals (copy/generic part). I had to grind a couple of mm (thickness of a Sharpie pen) from the very end of both shoes to allow them to close up enough.

I got a 2 pin electronic flasher for my mini off of eBay, that was ok (and same circuit as a triumph)

I'll be honest and say I didn't notice, but I used the originals on that so looks like I got lucky there !

The ones that came off were shoulder bolts, but not tapered as were the new ones. Did double check (been caught out like that before). They were all fitted with spring washers same as the originals. Thanks for checking though (never know when I'll miss something lol)

Well the bearings came off relatively easily (3 leg puller used). Worst job was getting the new bushes in the rear of the diff, took a bit of buffing of the bush and the diff case before they would press in. Gave the case a quick lick of paint and replaced all of the bolts

Then knocked out the pinion bearing and seal (there are cut outs in the case so you can knock it out)

No me neither, I'll have another go at measuring it tomorrow. Thanks anyway mate (Just checked, Google says 1 1/8 is about 28.5mm, was sure I had that socket! Time for a hunt )

Got one of those, so it's bigger than that. It measures 28ish mm.

So while I had my spitfire stood in the garage I noticed a couple of drops of oil coming from the differential, so since I am doing a full nut and bolt rebuild thought I'd have a look. I've bought a diff overhaul kit, since the bearings will have to come off to replace the seals.(In my experience you can damage the bearings sometimes when removing them, and they're not overly expensive) Given the diff a quick scrub (Will clean it better and paint later). 1st question, since I don't appear to have a socket that fits 🙁 what size is the nut on the input shaft?

Going to fit new ones anyway (old ones are buggered) but would rather pay 20-30 a corner for shocks if poss !

Bit of advice, I am doing a complete nut and bolt rebuild on my 1978 spit 1500 and want some advice on the springs and shocks. I went OTT with my mini both in harshness and price so am wary of doing the same with this. Probably going to stick with standard (ish) shocks, can't really justify £100+ a corner for Koni/spax for something I will only take out on the odd weekend drive. So, the big question is, is it ok to fit standard shocks and updated springs? Or should I just fit standard springs and shocks?
