Thanks beans. Just looking at your picture attached, I may not have connected up correctly? Are both the positive and negative connected to one terminal in this picture? Relay is same type (but modern square equivalent) from local motor spares. Old one was a blue Lucas cylindrical type relay that looks many years old.

Hi have fitted reconditioned starter and new 5 pin starter relay to my tr7. Once connected back up, the ignition light was on w/o the key in the ignition. Don't want to start it as its live for some reason? Any ideas? Cheers

Hi beans Re your comment about extending the arches in steel like early sprint works cars, was that using arch repair panels to tack onto existing arches? Cheers Adam

Ok so the fuel pump is not new, it's the original one - my mistake. I've replaced the needle valves in both the carb float chambers and there doesn't seem to be muck in there. The old needle valves seemed pretty worn. Floats aren't taking on any petrol to weigh them down. The overflow pipe on rear carb is still piddling out petrol though. Anybody have any ideas what else to check? Carbs were all set up and re balanced etc recently.

Ok thanks for the advice. It's a standard fuel pump and has been retuned - does that not make any difference?

Hi a bit if advice pls. The rear carbs on my sprint engined tr7 have been pushing fuel out of the overflow pipe when running. It's a constant stream, not a drip. The car was running fine and then started to misfire and run really rough and lumpy, eventually stalling at idle. Having taken the float chamber top off there is petrol in the chamber and the float itself seems to move freely and blowing through the pipe on the cap, the valve works when pressing the float up manually. Before I order a new float and valve, does anyone have any idea if it might be something else? Front carb doesn't have a problem. Recently all tuned up and timing sorted by garage.....cheers

Sure. Have uprated suspension all round and lowered rear trailing arms. I find the lowered 200lb springs a little harsh for my taste. Second hand standard road springs I've used have been a good compromise. The new ones I've problems with are brand new standard supposedly but I'm wondering if rimmers got them mixed up?

Hi am looking to install the above in my tr7 fhc. Does anyone have any advice/recommended seats and harnesses etc? I'm not wanting to spend the earth. Wasn't sure about mounting brackets for them and 5ft 11" so don't want to be head butting the roof!

I agree I think choice of setup is definately personal taste. I found my standard suspension setup actually very good for the rougher events I've done in the past. They also make for a comfortable ride on long road trips. I've since upgraded all the bushes to a dynamic? Kit from s and s, together with 200lb lower springs front and rear and Kyb shocks. I must admit that I did research my options thoroughly and came to the conclusion that with not enough technical know how of suspension set ups, id go for an off the shelf package. Taking the old suspension apart I realise how tired it was and then driving the new setup, it has transformed the handling. Ive since fitted a quick rack to sharpen steering and lowered seat rear trailing arms. The trailing arm mod has transformed profile of car to sit lower at rear than at the front which is opposite to standard setup as I believe they ride higher at the rear. Only thing I've found is that it's a harsher ride on uneven surfaces. 70 profile tyres reduce this compared to my 60 profile tarmac yoks. It is a Tarmac setup I've gone for though which is the majority of what the car is used for. Compromise mods to make car more suitable on a variety of surfaces would be to refit standard trailing arms and run Yok intermediate tyres.
