hi clutch better now but still rattling in that area...so I am going to drop the front crossmember and remove sump and fit new ends and mains. don't think this will cure anything but eliminated. after that I have got a new o/d filter gear box has only done 4000 miles since recon at fitchets, doesn't seem to be exhaust rattle but still maybe the cause. I will follow the problem through wit hthe forum and any other owner will have an interesting referral regards bill 07903079280

hi I am the one with the rattly clutch. got gearbox out and clutch plate very goo, pressure plate fins nearly worn through. bearing mmm does not look as if its the rattly bit, looks as if the thrust bearing doesn't come of the clutch cover at all. slight upward movement of ring gear so I may take cross member off and look at the ends, should I do this ? don't know what I am asking for but confused as I have not foung anything major to cause the rattle bill thanks

yes there was only one obvious way towards the rear side bill;

THANKS JULIAN IN THE LAST MONTH I HAVE HAD NEW SLAVE CYLINDER, TO GET IT TO WORK I HAD TO CUT OLD PISTON IN HALF AND ADD TO THE SLAVE CYLIDER, NOW OK, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG INSIDE BUT IF I REMOVE GEARBOX AND CHANGE EVERTHING 1. IT MIGHT NOT GO AWAY OR I WOULUD NOT KNOW THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM BILL

the clutch only seems to rattle when warm, originally I thought is was a exhaust baffle rattle, is the clutch bearing the only possible cause. can of worms I expect thanks
