  1. I did the metering unit correct setting yesterday, 😅 but as i tried to fire up, no spark nore ignition : once again the rotor arm broke!

    > The one that was on the car initially is partially defect, and now 2 new broke! May the ignition cap be faulty like ovalization?

The more i do things, the less it's easy to start the car, come on...😠

I also checked the brakes system, (seems rear breakes had issues when i tried 2 months ago.

Itseems i have to bleed it completely because no fluid at the rear, not enough in brake fluid reservoir.

After cleaning the rear systems seemed quite recent and good  😀(hoses, drums, shoes and cylinders). So i will not replace till the french MOT (which i hope, will be soon). 😅

    Next by priority

    - make this old lady run (didn't i write this already long time ago?)

    - refurbish french vintage alloys and get tyres

    - get the 2nd hand stainless steel exhaust line i spotted 300 Kms (delivery impossible)

Thank you, frenchie!   Gurus can't be gurus without feedback!

Yes, sounds like a diagnosis, that there was so much air getting in before that now it's rich.   But have you fiddled with the metering unit?    Once set, preferably by a dealer with the right bench test  equipment they are usually spot on and stay that way.

    John

Yes i did maintenance, but unfortunately, no Triumph/Lucas experts aroud.

I will re-read the settings ops on a doc I found (check through a outer fuell line from the metering if i remember...)

  3. Well, half effective. 😅

I turned the clamps the right way... and used a sealer that i already had  (LOWAC Perfect seal N4)

I think there's no more air leak at the admission (from 10 sec run test). An here come the troubles... the engine choked... and then impossible to fire up again... now the engine seems flooded.

If it fired up before with too much air (leak), maybe now it's lacking air when cold? I had a look at the entire butterfly system, to adjust at sight and put the plenum in place again, but no change.

i'm leaving home for a week, let's try next week... 🤨

If you suspect the gasket, once it is warmed up, spray something inflammable (Kwikstart,  brake  cleaner, even WD40 at suspect areas.     If there is air leaking into the inlets, then it will carry a little vapour with it, enriching the mixture, and you will hear a slight increase in revs.

    JOhn

PS This is safe!   Just use a fine spray, don't dump the can on the engine!

I found time to test this and yes there's a rev fluctuations at 1-2 and 3-4 injection inlets

I tightened the studs but no change...

The gasket is new but did I di something wrong?

And should it work with seal paste?

  6. Hi, something weird about the engine running. I suspect the  Inlet Exhaust Gasket (which is new) to create any leak :

    - Engine starts fine with choke and runs fine since it's low rpm (1000 how i set it).

    - when cold and warms revs fine

    - when hot, can't rev and about to die out or when can hardly rev, not turning fine and bangs sometimes

    Any ideas?

What pressure is the gauge showing? At idle and when you try to rev it up?

News... I unscrewed this gauge and made it work again even if the shell is broken.

At ignition it indicates 7.5-8 😀bar wich is correct equivalent 110psi and engine running it's about 6.5-7 (but once again no 100% trust in this gauge fir domestic use...)

I removed the new f....g HP pump too noisy and leaking at the inlet (wtf really) and put back the real Bosch that was on the car at 1st... What a waiste.🙄

I whish it's the final mount.

  8. Too many things at the moment for my Pi as i plan to get it ready for the C.T (french MOT).

File for collection cars document done . Waiting for answer Carte griae collection

So in order to pass the C.T breakes, fuel and emissions, tires...

Starts and drives. Leather interior renewed.

Still issues with fuel pressure/pump, alternator since yesterday, breakes inoperant at the rear and maybe an air leak between downpipe and exhaust line.

Many little things to control and to fix like transmission leak... Bushes and arms...

  9. it's 3 to 4.5 at idle, didn't see at rev but the gauge is bery old and i don't trust it

I just tried to drive 1st gear and rear, the engine ran and didn't cut.. some ki,d of nice, but still some bangs and rattles ( i think there's an air leak between down pipe and main line...)

  10. Yesterday dealing with fuel pump

Looks better but : new high pressure pump making much noise + heating + still exuding at the back which i don't understand because it should be sucking and not pulsing and also because huge bolt is tightened at max... Defect pump?

The car is starting but hard to rev... Like stalling whereas the idling is fine.

    Not enough fuel pressure?

  11. Stage 2 completed. 3.5l neatsfoot oil spread. Close to saturation but according to natural non homogeneous material, small areas are still a bit harsh.

Seem a bit shiny just because i just used a cloth uniformly and hasn't penetrated fully.

Final step is nourishing cream to make the surface softer and pleasant under touch.

I'll make 3-4 pictures process when done.

Many years ago, the 10CR was supported here by a glossary of terms and words from the vocabulary of car parts and their ills, in several languages, to assist the participants in case of need.   That list has long gone, but does anyone have copy, please?

I ask, because I'm improving on my school French, in preparation for the next Classic Le Mans.    My team colleagues had none, and my school memories were concerned with the cake on the table, with how many glasses of wine.     I could recall 'pneu' and 'essence', but the French for spark plug or track rod end was as Greek to me.    That list would save me a long search through the dictionary, before I could even start to learn the words!

    Thank you!

    John

John, if you need help or anything in France, feel free to ask. A bit far from Le Mans to help (250Km south). I advise you to get familiar with common words of the semantic field of cars/engine race with youtubes videos in french + auto translate. But don't forget most french have learnt english enventough they have difficulties to understand or speak, mainly because of accents and speed of speech. Speak slowly is the key.

Maybe old educational and formative bords and also those online documents b76b5cd4e06537578b8eda47ce94b6f8.jpg

Add to that Police Municipale, employed and controlled by the city/town council.

Gendarmes as you say are military, Police Nationale are civil (and as such are allowed to belong to a union unlike military personnel). Both come under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior. Their roles are the same, and again as you say, the Gendarmerie is found in rural areas such as where I live and the Police Nationale in urban areas. Both armed as standard.

The gendarmes are the descendants of the maréchaussées, created during the 100 years war to police the conduct of the army - hence why they are military - their role was extended to civil duties in 1536.

France does like to make things complicated whenever it can 🙄

Well the Gendarmes are military, under Armies ministry and it's true that they're mostly deployed in rural areas, but also the only ones on higways (with tolls) and also in urban areas with PSIG and airfields or portuar areas.
