    i couldn't get the sump off mine from underneath......waste of time trying. Engine out job
  2. thanks Bobbyspit but i've got an original workshop manual just the timing of the engine section is a bit vague........think timing lights were not widely used then hahaha

  4. right, now i'm getting somewhere..... 10 to 12 before....... vacuum pipe off and plugged...... Now, what do i set my adv/retard on the dizzy at when i start to time it? Cheers for all the help guys Darren
  5. so......i've read in the book it should be about 12 degrees before tdc........so is this at tickover with vacuum disconnected? Then where should the advance and retard be set on the dizzy? Well confused

  10. i got a 2nd hand box in today and all is well again, back on the road for £70........will get my old box rebuilt when i get time.
  11. Hi all, I've got a rumble coming from my gearbox which i thought was a thrust bearing noise. I have been told it's probably the input shaft bearing. Today i have drained the oil and low and behold there are a few needle bearings in the oil. How long in all your opinions have i got before it becomes terminal? I'm supposed to be going to pickering show this week (i live in county durham) will i get there and back? Thanks Darren
  12. i could't get my sump off no matter how high i jacked the engine up
  13. I've just took the thermostat out of mine to see if it would help the car run cooler. So does everyone rekon i should get a new one in? Thanks Darren
