  1. I managed to get the voltmeter on to the switches. i have power to the swicth on the left, but nothing for the one on top of the gear box and nothing at the solonoid either. assuming the switch on the side powers the solonoid, and that in turn to the switch on top of the gear box which in turn goes to the switch on the gearknob. replace solonid ?
  2. okay, reversing lights do work fine. I managed to get the voltmeter on to the switches. i have power to the swicth on the left, but nothing for the one on top of the gear box and nothing at the solonoid either. where does the switch at the top get its power from, work back: the solodoid, and then the solonoid is powered by the switch the left? so would that mean the solonoid is caput?
  3. Awesome Roger thamks, can you PM me your mob number as I may give you a call on the weekend for a chat if I get stuck if you dont mind?
  4. Can you access the solonoid fron under the car? Rather than remivibg the tunnel cover
  5. Thanks I took it for a spin and in 3rd and 4th tried the switch and heard nothing, no click or clunk. Reverse lights do work I think but I can check again. Is there make of voltmeter I should buy,  I did buy one but couldnt make head or tails of it
  6. Hi all i have a TR6 gearbox and my overdrive has never worked, i did have an electrician last year who remebers it 'clicking', the blue wire had come loose which i have now reattached does this look right? still doesnt work so may get him back out?

  8. I held the loose wire in place and heard nothing when flicked on; without driving any other tests? Which pieces should I replace?  Both round thingys?
  9. the blue wire is connected to switch on the other end.
  10. Hi all my overdrive has never worked since getting it back from the MOT, previous electrician said he saw lights dim when engaged and heard a click all good signs. One of the wires came loose, so i cut a small hole in the cover to look before removing it all if I need too. Can anyone help as to where this will go, could be a very easy fix fingers crossed!. poss connects to the piece on top?
  11. Spitfire graveyard and clean them up yourself perhaps?

  13. No its never worked at all, and as the gear box was ok, im only just getting round to it, i think one of the wires may be loose, but if i have take the tunnel out i thought there may be a few pieces i should replace while im at it. 1 relay 2 solenoid?
  14. i have had my gearbox overhauled and it all works finebut the overdrive doesnt work. ( switch is ok) ive been told that this is usually electrical, is there a part i should replace or kit i should buy to overhaul the electrical parts on the top?  thanks all.
