I had a great day. Part of the huge "CT community stall" which seemed to serve up vast amounts of tea to various waifs and strays, as well as feeding them biscuits. 

I was curious about the route my satnag took me, until the reasons became clear. I guess anybody who didn't look at google maps or had a clever satnag would have had issues, but not exactly rocket science.

As others who had stalls have said, it all seemed to have worked fine. Our stall was reallocted slightly, no bad thing as it was bigger than anticipated. 

I sold/rehomed some stuff, didn't buy any Triumph parts but did stock up on some thinners,brake cleaner and bought some nice Presto drill bits. I'll be back next year.

Use that site, put in all the correct parameters etc.

If unsure, top gear no overdrive is always one to one, so can remove the different OD options. 

It must be the switch.

I think your connections are correct, Check your fuses, and that you have 12V on that purple wire. 

Brown/red is from the main dash light switch. 

If the same switch (some don't have a flash facility) there should be another live connection so the flash function works without the dash light switch being on. (that may be the brown/red? no manual handy at the moment) 

Did it flash before? 

I am organising a drive followed by tea/coffee/cakes to Aldingbourne Trust (near Goodwood) https://www.aldingbournetrust.org/

It will start just north of Brighton (exact location TBA) at 1pm to leave at 1.15pm on Sunday 25th Feb. The route will be approx. 35 miles and arriving at the cafe 2.30pm.

Last time we visited we were supplied with PLENTY of cakes and hot drinks. The cost will be £6.95pp paid direct at the cafe.

If you wish to visit the main centre, there is an additional entry fee, but as they close at 4pm, there is little time to do anything but chat while eating cake. Some people did squeeze a quick visit to the shop though....

Unfortuanately no dogs are allowed into the centre.

Never seen such a tiny mixer. A normal sized one (eg Belle) used by just about all builders would happily cope with a spitfire or herald tank strapped to it. The 2nd one is a nightmare! 

mk2 GT6 (or GT6+ in the USA) had commission number KC50001 up, and were introduced in 1966. So your document is correct. However, the body and engine number are from an earlier car. 

Does the chassis have rotoflex? (lower wishbones at the back, or even just the brackets for them) But the obvious answer is the car and "title" do not belong to each other. There are other possibilities, things may have got swapped around over the past 50+ years and so on.

I liked the way some nice chaps in a dolomite responded when I gave them a bottle of brake fluid (their car was slowly losing fluid, their spare had run out at Pimperne)

I was offered cash there and then, or replacement when I next saw them. I declined, I was more than happy to help and had just scoffed cakes and a cuppa or 2. Happy days.

That time should mean most people can be at home. 

It will fit the head. 

BUT it will not fit with the single carb manifold. 

The single downpipe manifolds are common to spitfire and herald 1300 so should be easy to find, though studs are often an issue. Also worth noting the twin downpipe manifolds are notorious for blowing gaskets.

I wonder where they got the notion of a Spitfire with a Ford engine?

Hmm, I haven't looked at ferries or if we have a group deal. I know hotels have gone up in general, as has eating out. £18 for a pub roast today.

Some years ago, I paid the supplement to have speed camera warnings on  my TomTom.   They proved to be vastly out of date, like, for instance on the M6 north of Preston by FIVE YEARS!   I complained and got my money back, so they must have been aware of the deficiencies.   You might ask how often they update the warnings now.

How long ago? I am interested as we have a TomTom, and a button to report speed cameras if they are not flagged up. Think ours is 6 years old, but has all the functionality Howard talks of. (and has proved worthwhile as it has been in many countries with us, always accurate with mapping even in some odd places)

I think I would be miffed if somebody borrowed an alternator (or similar) and didn't return or replace it.

Consumables etc, no I don't expect anything, it is a give and take sort of thing. I have had assistance, and given assistance on events. Nothing more than a few quids worth, to me helping is enough.

Those are insurance valuations, not selling prices. I always reckon they are about 30% higher than what a car would achieve if sold. 

For reference, a friend nearly sold his mk2 CV for around 8k, but backed out of selling it. The buyer was understanding, but was a dealer, who would have marketed it for probably 11K? Nice very tidy vitesse with a few mods (seats, wheels, CVs etc, nothing drastic) and I would happily drive it anywhere.

Have you seen the ones on car and classic? couple of nice looking ones on there at the moment.

Worst case is to buy another engine. A decent one will be around £500, and may well be good to use. Or a short engine for rebuild maybe £200ish. So nothing too desperate. 

If you just get the machining work done, but build/fit the engine yourself, allow £1k. That is my gut feeling.

I have managed to swap shims with people when I needed them. They are common to stags and dolomites, so people often have a jar full of them. 

But it is worth checking the shims you ground have changed thickness in use, the issue may be elsewhere (but my brain is struggling to work out where)
