I have two of these, so keeping one and flogging the other. New unopened and stored flat. I've fitted these a couple of times, lovely 'proper' gaskets and as far I can tell not made now, although Rimmers have some stock I'm told. Make me an offer? I can send, but it's pretty big and might be expensive, so collection from Cheltenham possible. I could deliver it if it's around Gloucestershire or Bristol area, if you don't mind waiting a little. Goodness. Very sad. I didn't know her, only saw what she achieved and watched her progress with occasional reports from her various co-drivers during events. What an intrepid and interesting person she seemed to be 😞

My plastic cap arrived today, which is really good because the old one was so stuck on I had to cut it off with some snips!

Hi, Just to add to Rob’s comments about the solid pipe, the flexible hoses - which it sound like someone used vacuum hose for - need to be able to take modern fuels. So you’re looking for hose from trusted sources that meet “SAE J30 R9” or “…R14”. If it’s R9 or R14 it won’t permeate fuel and smell and will resit up to E85. Avoid R6 unless you have to for a short period of time, on E10 fuel it’ll break down within a year. Lots or us use Gates Barricade hose and it lasts well. Not easiest to get hold of sometimes in short runs. There’s long and slightly boring threads about hose on the forum, have a search for the term “sae” and you’ll find some more info, or reply here with questions 👍

...this is STILL a constant irritation to me. I'm tempted to drill two small holes at the lowest points left and right, and insert/bond-in two flush rivet-nuts, then pipe them to the fuel-breather exit hole (or one of my other rust holes! 😂). Am... I... mad.

Honestly I'd have paid a tenner, it's always such a pain getting the alloy one off, I think every time I'm going to snap the main body/pedestal. I'd quite like to modify it to include the level warning switch from a mini brake MC (GRK6009 / AEU1796), then wire both MCs to a little warning light. Just because 🙂

Ah well in that case they must have put price up following orders for it. Business I guess...

Ah Tim! This is brilliant, I searched high and low for a poly one for large Girling MCs long ago and gave up. I too have a smaller one (mini fit with level sensor) already. I checked the Amazon link, and they had gone up a couple quid. I've just taken my fuel tank out. Needed to get to fuel pump bolts underneath it (grr). While it's out I wonder if I should so anything to it? I've seen various coatings from Frost and the like. Any good? Someone here had some flake-off and cause all sorts of problems if I recall.

Well I've not put the fuel lines/pump/filters back into the car yet since my investigations, but I think I found the issue: Malpassi Filter King had fired it's needle valve thing out, inside the glass bowl, so I think it was completely flooding the carbs after about 20 mins. Something like that.

I don’t want to take this too off topic when it comes to routing, but it’s worth checking your Gates hose for a code. “SAE J30 R…” if it’s R9 or R14 you’re good, won’t smell and will resit up to E85 I think. If it’s R6 I’d recommend not fitting it, or only for a shorty time, view it as a temporary hose. Routing wise, on my (GT6) tank exit has a right-angled 5/16 fitting and 5/16 hose to Facet pump, then hose to some steel pipe, then a small section of 5/16 hose in the middle of the car, then steel again up towards the old pump location, and 5/16 to a fuel regulator mounted on the bulkhead. About 1 meter of 5/16 in all. I think with R9 or R14 hoses, properly clamped as per clive’s suggestion, you don’t have to limit length too much.

Ah mate me too. I walk past it every day thinking "I'll drive you soon" and it's been about a year now. The barriers to driving are: Finish tarting up the wheels and get the new rubber on which is sat waiting. Remove fuel tank to get to pump to replace its filter, and then replace all the hose with R9 which I have (or is on it's way!). Free up one or more rear wheel cylinders. Insure it!

I'm looking for a second hand family car. I've been eyeing up Yeti's for a while. I've owned a Skoda in the past and was happy with it. I tend towards VAG cars for one reason or another. So... care to give me any Pros/Cons regarding the Yeti? I already think it sits too high, and it's not the prettiest. I can live with those two things. Thanks!

Yes I remember quite a few shows where CT has displayed well used and well maintained cars, especially ones used for RBRR or other long distance events. I can’t speak for Darren, but I wonder if he’s asking for ‘cars to show’, and not ‘show cars’.

Wow, they do! And even though they don't provide measurements for most of them, some additional googling suggests that a Weller No.1 cap might be perfect! Thanks Dave.

I need 4 centre caps for my 100+ Interstate wheels. The hole measures about 61mm'ish. I have seen plenty of shallow caps that would work on the rears, but wouldn't clear the bearing caps on the front. Anyone here running similar wheels, with suitable caps?
