  1. Thanks everyone. Now sorted! Tim
  2. Indeed it is Nick but It's not where I will be living, just storing the TR secure and dry pro tem while I look for garaging nearer to our flat in Barnstaple. Tim
  3. I need to get the car from home (SG5 3SS) to Devon (EX18 7SN) on Sunday 3rd September or Monday 4th while Sue and I travel down in convoy in the daily driver. Is there any one with a trailer who can help out? If so please PM me with proposal, cash awaits. Tim
  4. Pair of driveshafts complete with hubs, absolutely no play on spines, with studs for wire wheels. Removed from my car when I fitted CV driveshafts. Together with one hub and outer axle shaft assembly, no play. £50 the lot plus carriage or collect from SG5 3SS.
  5. Plastic bodies with glass lenses. Reflectors in perfect condition. RHD (LH Dip) with no pilot light. Both fitted with Philips Racing Vision uprated 60/55 Watt halogen bulbs. WIPAC part Number S6008. £30 the pair plus carriage or collect from SG5 3SS.
  6. Stripped and fully rebuilt by Classic & Vintage Dynamos of Shirebrook, Notts., with new parts as required. Complete with Woodruff key, nut and spring washer but no pulley. Lucas part no. 22700B. Body date stamped 6 60. £30 plus carriage or collect from SG5 3SS
  7. Quite a few parts have now gone. I attach an updated list of what's left in case anything of use to someone. It would be a pity if I have to take it all to the local dump but SWMBO tells me it's not coming with us! Tim TRIUMPH TR4A PARTS AND ACCESSORIES AVAIlABLE.odt
  8. Herewith an updated list from which I have removed those parts gone or spoken for. At the same time I have added some other items I just came across in the deeper recesses of my garage. Many parts, eg Lucas Square 8 fog lights, and Wipac 7" Quadoptics would suit other Triumph models of course. Tim TR4A Spares and Accessories For Sale.odt
  9. I am having a clear out prior to a house move and have a variety of parts and accessories for sale. Many suit other Triumph models. If of possible interest please PM me for a detailed list. I would be happy to provide pictures if required. I am located near Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Tim
  10. I would like to wish all entrants on this event the very best of luck. The route looks epic (well done Chris and Howard)) and I only wish that I could also be taking part this time. All being well I look forward to resuming C2C activity wef next year. In the meantime I will derive vicarious pleasure by following this year's event and reading subsequent reports. Tim
  11. Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham overhauled and calibrated my speedo in 1994 and apart from one recent issue of an erratic needle, which I solved by servicing the flexible drive as above, the instrument has performed perfectly for nearly 30 years. According to the wife's satnav it is spot on to +/- 1mph all the way up to the NSL and, according to extended tests against km markers over long stretches of motorway the odometer over-reads by just 1.5%.
  12. I'm sure that could be arranged Bruce - if that's what it takes to sweeten the deal! Tim
  13. We are moving to a flat in Barnstaple with completion on 1st August and have accepted an offer on Waysmeet. We are yet to exchange but all being well will be off to Devon late August/early September. This presents me with a problem, since Sue is unable to drive long distances and we cannot therefore take our two cars down in convoy. I have obtained three more or less eyewatering quotes to trailer the TR to Barnstaple and it occurred to me that there might be a better option. I wonder if anyone would be prepared to drive down in convoy and bring me back home to Holwell (SG5 3SS near Hitchin in Hertfordshire). The round trip from here would be around 480 miles, easily accomplished with an early start in a day by a hard core CT enthusiast - think of it as a pre-RBRR shake down perhaps or take your daily driver. I would of course cover the other driver's fuel costs and any meals en route and hope someone fancies helping me out. Tim
  14. I only just spotted this thread Linda and am sorry to hear of your speedo issue. It might be worth checking and servicing the inner flexible drive cable according to the attached leaflet from Smiths Industries. Following these precepts certainly enabled me to sort a problem with the TR4A speedo a while back. Tim SMITHS The Care of Instruments.pdf
  15. Hopefully you can appreciate from the attached pic of my silicone rubber top and by pass hoses that they are not at all shiny, maybe somewhere between matt and satin in paint terminology. Tim
  16. +1 for these people. Fit and forget and if you go for black visually indistinguishable from conventional rubber hoses. Another benefit is that silicone hoses are easier to remove, eg when draining the system to replace coolant, they don't weld themselves so assiduously to outlets.
  17. I'm actually just coming for your biscuits 😀😀
  18. Looking forward to it Wendy, see you and the other WMids guys there. Tim
  19. +1 for a Moto-Lita wheel. I have had a black leather covered 14" flat Moto-Lita in my 4A for over 50 years and have been very happy with the function and appearance. I like the chunky feel - I can't be doing with a thin hard plastic-rimmed steering wheel. The Moto-Lita is showing some wear at the ten and two o'clock positions but I consider that patina after all this time.
  20. Thanks Clive, but OP posted on wrong thread I think. Tim
  21. Well done indeed and so nice to see plenty of Childline plaques displayed. I wasn't able to get out in the 4A today as it's currently off the road with the wiper system in bits. I have my plaque however and will display it retrospectively on future outings to show support. Tim
  22. Impressive wiper performance in torrential rain Kevin. Remind me, did you retain the original 4A wiper motor when you fitted the new wheel boxes? I also note that at the extreme of travel the ends of both wiper blades slightly override the windscreen rubber. What gear wheel is fitted in the motor? Tim
  23. North London Garages Group Training Association has been providing training for aspiring motor mechanics for over 50 years. The chief executive, Colin Denton, runs a very nice Stag and is well into classics. I first met Colin at the Capel Manor Show in September 2021 and have cultivated the acquaintance since then. Last year he told me of plans for a new classic car TV series to be filmed at his establishment in Ponders End, which would involve tinker sessions for classic car owners and he told me that CT members would be welcome to bring their cars along to work on. I posted the invite on the Forum and some members took up the opportunity. See details of the new series below, should be worth a watch. Tim Classic Car Garage Press Pack (003).pdf
  24. I haven't received my March magazine yet Chris and am really looking forward to seeing it, the first edition produced by our new publisher, Lavenham Press. On reviewing the proof copy however I see that you are absolutely correct and I apologise for having missed this error. Tim
