The reference I have says that "light/medium" for NSK/SKF/Timken = LM, but KLM for FAG. At a guess I'd say the C is the bearing class.( http://www.timken.co.uk/en-us/solutions/machinetools/Pages/BearingPrecisionLevels.aspx ) Thanks, hopefully they are all the same bearing, I couldn't even find the C prefix on their part numbering system.  Fingers crossed they are the same.

If not, good luck with the search. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/141500902202?nav=SEARCH Worth mentioning they came quicker than eBay said too in my case Thanks, I see the box has the KLM on it as well, I have ordered them now, hopefully the LM instead of KLM is the same, some of the USA sites list the LM11949 bearing instead of KLM so hopefully they are the same ones
  3. Morning all, im doing the front wheel bearings as part of the GT6 front end overhaul and am trying to get some wheel bearings.  Most suppliers seem shut until the 5th :-( but a bearing supplier is open but have some confusion over the Timken part numbers I have seen that the Timken part numbers are; Inner - Timken L44649   Outer - Timken KLM11949C for the outer they only have a LM11949  not the KLM....C anyone know what the difference is?  they say the catalogue does list the KLM part but Timken Europe are closed till the 5th and so they cant find out what the difference is. I take it the mk1 gt6 does have a different bearing size as most suppliers just list the one part.
  4. lets hope its not glued on then as I will just cut the stuff off and hope its a nice wheel underneath.
  5. cliftyhanger wrote:Herald or spit mk1 Thanks All the spit and herald wheels I have seen dont have the padding, has someone added this as it looks very well done if they have
  6. 9984 wrote:Looks like a morris minor wheel to me I think the Minor wheel spokes dont go stright across like this one
  7. I have now found the correct wheel for the GT6, anyone know what the incorrect wheel currently on the car is from?  My guess was Herald or Vitesse, but they dont seem to have the padded rim.  Its a 15" rim by the looks of it, bigger than the Formula wheel thats replacing it.
  8. 6838 wrote: found them in the end, but they are £117 a pair, almost the same as the AVOs I have emailed Monroe to see if any will fit Monroe themselves dont seem to have any for the GT6, but said maybe these come from the states There are lots of KYBs for spitfire, but i havent a clue which would be rotoflex or non-rotoflex to see if they fit the GT6
  9. 6838 wrote: on their online shop I cant see any dampers for Spit or GT6 - am I looking in the wrong place? found them in the end, but they are £117 a pair, almost the same as the AVOs I have emailed Monroe to see if any will fit

  11. Monroe seem to do some decent priced rears for the spitfire, need to look into if these will fit on the GT6
  12. 7586 wrote:Just checked. Lots of KYB Gas a just for sale for Spitfire/gt6 just do a search. About £89 pair. I have KYB all round and they are really good. I can only find KYB rears for a spitfire, are all ear shocks the same for spitfire and gt6, I had thought the mk1 Gt6 had longer rear dampers than the rotoflex cars

  14. 8778 wrote:Here's a list from every ones favourite price gouger: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID008054 The GAZ are the cheapest, followed by the SPAX and then the Koni. I use Koni all round on my Mk1 and the ride is much improved on bumpy or poorly maintained roads. To be honest Koni isn't that much more expensive and you do get what you pay for. On other cars I have used Gaz...and they leaked in no time at all, Spax I have had on a couple of cars and just seem hard what ever you set them to and the Koni's seem like a lot of money.  I can get AVO rears for £64 each, i have had AVOs a wgile now on my Peugeot hillclimb car and they work well and could be rebuilt and generally feel a bit more like a normal shock when you reduce the damping rate on the adjusters I was hoping that there is a decent OEM make that will fit as I dont want to spend £140 on a pair of rear dampers
  15. can anyone recommend a good make or rear dampers for a mk1 GT6, there seems to be the cheap 'black' dampers sold for £30 a pair or a jump up to Koni/Avo and a big hike in price. It looks like Monroe and KYB used to do some rears, but are now discontinued Anyone know of a mid-price decent pair or rears? Cheers Dan
  16. royboy66 wrote:A bit of info here  :) http://www.teglerizer.com/mgstuff/advance_curves.htm That's the one I had found, thanks for posting it up though It lists the 7953291 as a d202 which is what I'm finding confusing as the body of mine is stamped d200 7953291
  17. Has anyone got a list of distributor part numbers for the different GT6 mks, I have a D200 7953291 on my distributor on my MK1, but the Mk1 is being listed as a 202, although I can find other references to the mk1 having a D200 7953291 from some of the german electronic ignition kits. Anyone got a definitive list of the Delco Remy part numbers?

    KYB Dampers

cook1e wrote:The MOSS Triumphtune 330lb "Road lowered"springs (TT4701 sit about 3/4 inch lower than standard on a GT6 which is a nice stance as per the picture below so no need for spacers. The Spitfire ones have a different part number so are probably slightly shorter to allow for the lighter engine. Thanks Just ordered some mirrors from moss, could have combined postage, woops Did they come in black? I'm trying to keep it looking Original as I can with a few subtle updates

    KYB Dampers

cliftyhanger wrote:KYB are decent quality. OE to lots of manufacturers so should be fine, much better than the "black" ones that are very cheap and probably better than some of the more expensive ones too. Firmer front springs are a good idea, at least 330lb, I always get mine from Moss as they say the spring rate AND the fitted lengths, unlike lots of places who just say "uprated" Always been happy with them too. Now bushes. "original" metalastic, yes, will last well. However, I doubt you will find them, only repro rubber that is not fit for purpose. You may need to compromise on the colour thing. (and don't buy on price, always check the quality!) Thanks Clive, I've read a bit about the moss ones being too short when in the 330lb rating, but I need to see what spring length is on it now to get an idea of what reduction in free length I need.  I just need to look at some decent rear shocks now that don't cost a fortune? Do the likes of Cranley classics, Rimmers etc sell decent standard bushes or do they all get them from the same place  and hence why most people go with poly bushes?
  22. so im in the process of renewing all the bushes and dampers for the mk1 GT6 as they are all well and trully knackered. Has anyone used the KYB dampers?  They come in black and at a reasonable price (£60 a pair), but only on the front as they have discontinued the rears.  I have done a forum search but not turned up anyting.  Im debating using some fast road springs, but I know some of the cheaper dampers tend to feel more bouncy with harder springs. Also, all the poly bushes seem to be red or blue, im keen for it to look orginal (ish) and would want black bushes, I take it some new orginals would be fine as I have seen a whole front end refurb kit for about £70

    Panel Gap Magic

Same here, gap at the back of the door, just on the passenger side I had thought it was a poor fitting sill that had caused it

Hi all, I'm looking for some replacement mirrors to match the ones shown in the picture below, there are some modern tex ones, but they don't seem to be exactly the same. Any ideas are much appreciated Thanks Dan
