    Carbs replacement

My GT6 Mk2 came with a triple Weber setup, now I'm putting back the original double Strombergs and I'm try to understand what I miss before I go to the local garage. Here some photos of current situation, carbs: Heater valve: Accelerator lever: These are the "new" carbs: Heater intake: My doubts: 1. The current heater valve does not look original, which is the correct one? How does it connect to the manifold intake? Do you have any photos which could help me? 2. The choke cable looks long enough but its cover has been cut so I'd probably have to replace it. 3. The current accelerator lever should be fine and fit the Stombergs linkage, right? 4. Am I missing anything else?
  2. Definitely a classic-to-be, I used to drive a BMW Mini Cooper (the "real" modern Mini, not those SUVs or 5-doors they sell now) and it was a real fun. Enjoy Lake Garda despite the weather and feel free to ask for some hints, if needed. 😉
  3. Martin, if you're looking for nice roads to drive (and you haven't been there yet) don't miss the "Strada della Forra" in Tremosine! Some videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?q=brasa+schlucht The whole southern area, with hills and castles, is enjoyable too. Are you there (well, I should say here) with a classic car?
  4. Last night I was in my garage to do some other tests... and the light was off again! Definitely a bad connection as you guessed, now I just have to find it out.
  5. After three days and some km's, the light is on again. Need to re-check everything... 😲
  6. Update: yesterday I disconnected the alternator wires, cleaned and brushed the plugs, finally reconnected them. I started the engine and let it run in my garage for a couple of minutes and the light was off, I will test it better and longer next weekend.
  7. Thanks all, I'll check wires and plugs.
  8. I spent last weekend in a trip with my 1969 GT6 Mk2, saturday afternoon I realized (in the sunlight it was not easy to spot) that the ignition warning light was always on. I though the alternator was gone and I expected the battery's dead in a short time. It didn't happen. I drove the car for the whole day, night and the day after to home and the battery was fine. The warning light was still on. What should I look for?
  9. As I wrote before, I live three hours by car far from Cortina. It's far enough to discourage me to drive there only to hope to meet some of you lurking around while the others are chilling, eating or sleeping in their hotels after a tiring driving day. Not to mention that I would probably need to get some hours off from my job to be there in time. I posted here to understand if and how this thing could be done but it's just too complicated. 🙂 PS: I'm really sorry to have been the cause of the quarrel above. As for me, I didn't see the route shared by andy because he removed it before I visited the forum.
  10. Thank you Nick. It would be very difficult for me to be there early on saturday morning so I have to give up.
  11. Thanks for all your answers. A few details: as you've maybe seen in my signature, I run a website about the Triumph world so I'd like to join the 10CR to write about it. It would be nice, then, to get some photos and talk with some of you. Moreover, friday is working day and I'm not sure I'll be able to take one day off so I'd like to understand if it's worth to ask for it. At now it's not really clear to me how the 10CR works, I found this link which annouce your arrival in Cortina at 2 PM and I wonder if - being there - I will see the arrival of all of you or if it's not mandatory and many of you will prefer to save some time to sleep and go straight to the hotel. That is, will there be a moment to take a photo of the 80 cars together? Or is the run pretty "personal" and you are able to make your own timetable? Maybe the saturday morning start could be a nice option to see the all of you but I'm afraid you will be quite in a hurry and not very pleased to stop to allow me to get a photo and talk with you. And - living at 3 hours by car far - since you will leave Cortina early in the morning I would probably have to leave home before dawn.
  12. That's what I guessed, I find it quite strange but I'm sure you have your reasons to do it. Thanks anyway.
  13. Being an Italian Triumph cars lover I'd be happy to join you somewhere to see all of you riding our streets. Reading the forum I understood that you'll stay one night in Cortina, not so far from where I live so quite easily reachable. Unfortunately you'll arrive there on friday (i.e. working day) which makes things a bit more complicated for me. I just wonder if a public route map exists somewhere or if - for some reasons - it's reserved to the enlisted users only.
