  1.   Morning,   Thank you for a great event. We both really enjoyed it. It was obvious a lot of effort had gone into organising the weekend by all involved. I think it was also a great tribute to what Martin wanted the event to be. Sorry we couldn’t quite push it to the end, we nearly did end up pushing it home, at one point in the middle of nowhere the engine just died. I am not sure what is causing the problem yet but I’ll have to investigate. We stopped just before the A1 to decide what to do as it was really struggling at low Rpm. We decided to not risk crawling into York and made a break for it down the A1. Pretty scary on the A1 in traffic when it suddenly cuts out. A lot of coughing and spluttering later, we rolled it back under the carport at Deana’s. I said I was sorry to not have finished the event and Deana’s just laughed and said “ it wouldn’t be a Club Triumph event if Martin didn't come home on a transporter” or words to that effect.     So a great two days driving with a really good bunch of car enthusiast. I hope everyone else made it to the end and enjoyed it as much as we did.   Unfortunately I’ll be on holiday for the next P&P meeting so I’ll see you all in October.    P.s: To really make it special next year, may I suggest arranging parking at the end of day one, that would have really put the icing on the cake.
  2. Count me in, date added to diary. Bryce + some lucky person, vehicle to be confirmed.
  3. I thought the 10CR was spot on this year. To me it fell in-between the two, it wasn’t too hard-core and it wasn’t a leisurely tour. I don’t know if Jonny and I fell into the younger generation both being under 35. For us the 10CR was definitely about the challenge. We wanted to leave home and come back without using a Sat-Nav, we wanted to wear the 10CR T-shirt everyday for the entire event and we wanted things to go wrong so that we could fix them. It sounds daft doesn’t it but if we had left home and followed a Sat-Nav all the way, with nothing going wrong with the car, we would have enjoyed the scenery but that’s about it. I think not having the restarts would be my only criticism although Martin had booked the same hotels as his mates so we met up with them each night and had a beer and a meal. It wouldn’t have been the same experience if we had done the entire trip without the camaraderie each night. I could, however, see the Older generation were really struggling to keep up 😀 😲. After the event we both wanted to do a similar event again but maybe push a bit further. We talked about doing the Nordics or even go as far as Kazakhstan. The Alps are amazing but they are becoming a bit too familiar for me now.
  4. I will (said with confidence) be taking this Mk3 Spitfire on the 10CR. I bought it 3 weeks ago. So far I have stripped all the brakes and fit new parts, including changing the brake servo to a duel system with a few diy brackets. Changed the head to unleaded. Rewired the headlights to relays and I am now half way through a 5 speed conversion. I still need to: Finish the 5 speed (ford type 9) conversion. Install a new radiator and wire the switch. Fit a new moulded carpet inside and the rest of the interior. MOT and test drive. With 3 weeks to go that shouldn't be a problem.   Then, when I get back from the 10CR it's a full nut and bolt rebuild.
  5. Sorry I only had my phone on me to take some quick pictures. I've added 5 to the album. We waited ages for our food but I have to say my chicken and potatoes was very nice on Sunday.
  6. Great event, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone involved in putting it all together and running it on the day. Thanks also to Paul D for letting me drive his car and navigate. Looking forward to the 10Cr now.
  7. Hi Tim, have you seen the private message I sent you.
