  1. Changed the jets today and the throttle cable. Strangely I had to adjust all the linkages as the cable must have been slightly longer. Still not 100% happy but will readjust again once I’ve done some miles. Next job is get all the front end set up and adjusted.
  2. Fuel pouring out my carb jets when cars turned off so I’ve had to order new ones. Waiting for them to arrive and then that’s my next job. Also ordered a throttle cable as mines frayed on the end. Strange thing is I know I have a spare cable as I ordered it when I had one break. The one that’s fitted was fitted temporarily about 5 years ago after the one on the car snapped 🤣. This one was taken off due to being frayed once already 🤷🏼‍♂️🙄
  3. Car back on its wheels and driving, needs a few bits to make right. Mainly tracking and timing setting properly plus brakes pull slightly to the right. Nice to drive it again though that’s for sure.
  4. Everyone needs something to aim for. 11 years today mine passed its mot for the first time in about 6 years after a body restoration….. it did the rbrr in October 2012
  5. My car didn’t have a screen finisher when we got it in 2002. I didn’t realise it was meant to until I was putting it all back together after I painted it in 2011/12.
  6. You need to get the number plate onto the bonnet though 😉
  7. Wow you just don’t care do you! You and I both know my spitfires amazing 😘
  8. 1144 pads are great and work right from the off. I’ve never had brake fade but then I’m no race driver either ….
  9. Looking again at the pictures I wonder if the bonnet needs lifting on the front N/S ….. The second picture the shut line appears closer at the bottom than the top. By lifting the N/S front you’ll actually open the gap at the bottom and hopefully equalise the entire gap but possibly push the off side in a bit too.
  10. That’s a gorgeous looking car and looks to be in very good visual order. The roof unfortunately is way to slack and does need rectifying…. Wants warming up and stretching to fit properly( I’m no expert though). I’ve not played with an early bonnet other than a herald as my spitfire is a 1500. If it’s like a herald there is adjustment though …. Someone will help I’m sure. Please don’t get hung up on what you paid if you did it for the right reasons then it’s not too much. Sentimentality is why many of us keep ploughing money into our cars after all.
  11. Are we really going start this all up again! John, I was the one you are using as your example. I did indeed fall asleep in the services without getting out of my car. I did not stop for coffee! I stopped to sleep in my car. Please stop talking rubbish and put this to bed once and for all. I’m a hgv driver, I know when I’m too tired to drive and am quite capable of parking my car/lorry and having a sleep. This is the responsible thing to do!
  12. Has it been driven since fitting? You can get lowering blocks that fit between the spring and the differential to lower the rear….. is it a standard spring or swing spring conversion?
  13. So my first run was in 2004 with my good friend Gwaredd ( well we were good friends at the start). This will be my 10th run and the cars 6th I believe….. It’s come a long way since the first run, and it had to go a long way to actually be fit to start that one! Gwaredd and I are friends😂 again so he’s up for round 2. We’re almost 20 years older and hopefully both relaxed a bit 🤣😂
  14. Seemed so easy this time , good job I type with 1 finger …. I didn’t even need to put my beer down! The bit about your vitesse Jason …… it’s in October !!
  15. Thanks Tim I appreciate the offer but all parts present now. Just need to strip paint and rebuild…..
  16. Same as that mate , going to stay in with the wife instead……
  17. I believe you have to provide the receipt of purchase.
  18. But as I said this isn’t a pro set it’s a basic range. It just happens to look the same as my original pro set.
  19. So not so much a favourite as a decent bargain. Purchased to stay in the boot of the spitfire with a set of spanner’s. £25 and usual Halfords pro quality…. In fact identical to my original pro set from 25+ yrs ago. Now they charge more to write advanced on them. For £25 you can’t go wrong!
  20. I think that’s why I decided against changing them before…. I reckon I got the new ones when I redid the engine. Maybe 2013…. it’s done at least 2 round britains since then 😂 I think I’ll fit the new ones but keep the old ones as spares. If the new ones fail I’ll fit the old ones and leave alone. thanks👍
  21. Just had a route around in the heralds garage/ tent. Found my new engine mounts! No idea where I got them, maybe stoneleigh, maybe paddocks 🤷🏼‍♂️ Not a clue but I’ll fit them and see how long they last. I’ll keep my old knackered ones as back up. Thanks for the responses 👍
