    Front springs

The red springs have replaced the black. The black are tssc we’re sold as fast road lowered and uprated when I fittted them 15yrs ago. The red are 330lb and sold as slightly lowered ......
  3. ive spent this morning in the cold swapping front springs on my spitfire.....now it needs spacers as sits too low. It was always low so I’m not really surprised.
  4. If you look at the picture the backplate is straight the gap is between the bell housing and the backplate. This is shaped into the bell housing, both my spitfires are exactly the same..... Now as to why it’s shaped like that I don’t know.....

    Starter motor

My Rbrr co driver is looking for a high torque starter for his 2000. Can anyone point us in the direction of something suitable that can be made to fit please? Seems daft spending more of his money than I need too 😀

    BB1 seats

I had very similar seats in my spitfire 1500 ( mine were corbeau). I swapped back to 1500 seats when I rebuilt my car and to be honest I’m so pleased I did. The buckets were comfy but very restrictive in use compared to genuine seats. I fitted 1500black vinyl I wish I’d gone for leather now......maybe next time.
  10. Do I remember correctly that the escort mk1/2 steering knuckle can fit the triumphs?
  11. The trunnions is the reliable bit..... the vertical link threaded section is the weak bit. They have a tendency to snap. They must be inspected to make sure there is no sign of weakness. Fortunately they tend to break a low speeds due to extra strain of turning the steering. Alex
  12. You’ll get in no problem Bruce.....you don’t get out of it that easily!
  13. I thought I’d taken pictures of the N/S too but I’ve not .....
  14. I like the idea of backings from notepads, thanks Nick! Fitted the drivers door last night to recheck for fit before final paint, today I fit the passenger side. Drivers side made me so pleased with all my efforts.....passenger side made me swear lots 😀 Almost sorted now but chipped a few areas of paint, need to ‘correct’ the screen frame as it’s touching slightly Obviously no strikers etc fitted yet...... hopefully that will be ok. Alex
  15. I’m looking for suggestions for the best thing to use for door hinge and striker gaskets. I’m thinking a bit thicker than a cereal box? Any thoughts as to how thick it should be? Thank you in advance Alex
  16. Can't imagine you'd get many complaints from anyone here John.......anything people learn can be a benefit in some way at some point in time. Alex
  17. Classic electrics are pretty simple to understand and work on......apparently! Not my experience  though I hate them I bet there's loads of people on here that would pay for things like having relays put in for their lights and such like. Trouble is with our cars being relatively low value is cost of paying 'experts'. If you go for it ....and I'd say it's got to be worth a go,why not change your signature too include your service, location and contact info?

    Exhaust help

David manners say 14 days for a manifold £300.... not sure how that compares but maybe worth a call? Wow just compared to paddocks price.....£145 + vat!
  19. Tim, my tankard was empty.....please remedy this situation next time I see you
  20. That was lucky..... Unfortunately Ann isn't so lucky, she's had another scan this week and her lung tumours are growing.
