After starting with 3 potential RBRR cars i have sadly had withdraw from the run after the third choice my daily user triumph 2000 has let me down with the auto box after 2 weeks of many more problems that have been sorted. we even set off today to the plough and had another problem and returned home to sort that one out, then on setting off again the gearbox has all but given up. oh well cant be helped now so wishing everybody else good luck. i will be at the blyth service stop to see you all. steve
  2. Been in two minds about the autobox "leave it or change it" and ive decided to leave it, since the trouble on the way to the drivers meet ive had no repeat. The box i got from mike will be going in the boot as a spare just incase (big thanks mike w, alan c and colin r) This weekend ive fitted a new oilseal in the rear of my box as it was leaking slightly after changing the prop and sorted 99%of my spares out that now reside in the boot, managed to fit stickers on 1 side of the car then it rained. things left to do:- swap front seats for some with headrests fit other side stickers swap battery buy some auto fluid and buy some snacks for the crew. see you all at the plough and good luck to each and every crew member for a safe and enjoyable RBRR 2012 :) Steve

  4. After the problem with the autobox on the way to the drivers meet, then since disconnecting the kickdown cable it being ok im still in two minds as to change the gearbox or not before the RBRR. It would help if i could have a chat with someone that knows about these autobox's, so if anyone could PM me a phone  number i would be very grateful.

Cheers Colin thanks for the offer colin but i dont know what the problem is with the gearbox, after losing drive on the motorway afew times on the way to the drivers meet ive disconnected the kick down cable and driven over 100 miles with out the loss of drive so im going to leave it as is for now and put some more miles on before the RBRR and see how it goes, i do possibly  have a back up gearbox coming to me in case it goes again before the RBRR. thanks again              steve
  6. After failing to get to the drivers meet, it now looks like i might need a new auto gearbox :(
  7. Got to change a drive shaft  on the 2000 in the morning, then on to the drivers meet.
  8. Well its not the sprint or the 1500tc now so it'll be the 2000, bit of servicing and wash n polish then were ready :)

Nick_Jones wrote:Doesn't seem to be nearly enough panic in this thread......  maybe it's still too early?  :P Nick Well heres a bit of panic for you, 1500tc auto off road 15 years, wants n/s chassis leg , n/s outer sill and reinforcer and lower sill no brakes all pipes want replacing, no exhaust rear pipe , all tyres past it, all water hoses want replacing, next to no paint on it it was DA'd off 15 years ago then left outside, beige cloth seats fallen apart. and all ive got done up to now is cut the rot off the sill ready for the new sill that i have, i have had it running though, sounds sweet at 45000 miles from new. I will be cracking on with it now im inside the last month. :o if not ready i will have to use the 2000 ;)
  10. 1st choice car (dolomite sprint) is now not going to make it this time, hoping to get the 1500tc sorted if not then the 2000. i will let jason know asap. steve

  13. Still got nowt done yet, what with the weather and other stuff going on.......at this rate i might have to use the 2000 instead of the sprint or 1500tc. steve
