  1. Hi Tim, I'm not sure if it was peculiar to this year but we seemed to be hanging around a lot waiting to leave controls - in particular Skiach? I'm really not sure if this wasn't just because for once we had no problems and always seemed to be towards the front of the 'pack'. No issues with the route - the Welsh roads south of  Welshpool were great as usual and I actually loved the enforced Scottish detour along the A836 (Loch Loyal) - it gave a new perspective on the Highlands and I preferred the road - less blind brows. Hope I can make the next one and thanks for all your hard work. The sweeper idea is great in theory but I think was just a lucky one off due to Dougs misfortune!?
  2. Nothing wrong with the original 2000 if you aren't in a hurry uphills. Managed 36mpg over 4000 miles round Europe recently. Cruising at 60-70mph and no need to downshift out of 4th for roundabouts!
  3. I think it was a remarkable achievement and the fact that I managed using an iPhone whilst drinking fishbowls of gin and tonic eating anchovies in a Tapas bar in Madrid, using a Swedish debit card speaks volumes of the overall robustness of the new website. Thanks for all the handy hints. See you all in October
  4. No idea how I logged on via my iPhone whilst drinking gin in Madrid but I’ve managed to enter my Ozzie PI with Doug as entry 60 - happy days. New website is a nightmare on an iPhone
  5. Bugger it - I can’t log on using my CT credential - better luck Doug. Why is this so fuc@@ing hard?
  6. Don’t understand this new website - link doesn’t work - Doug can’t work it out either WTF?
  7. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jp2A.....G-20120909-00210.jpg http://triumphwestoz.blogspot.se/2012/09/engine-swap-over-part-4.html This details how I fitted a Mk2 Vitesse flywheel to a 2000 saloon Mk2 crank You can also just fit a standard Mk2 saloon flywheel but they are HEAVY
  8. Mk1 2000 engine out of a saloon will have a long back crank - same length as a Mk1 PI or TR5 - it is 5/8" longer. 0.625" All GT6 / Vitesse and Mk2 2000 saloon will have a short back crank. I have fitted a Vitesse flywheel to a 2000 saloon but you need a Dolomite 1850 thrust bearing carrier (with fork slippers modded slightly - thinned down on the non thrust side) to get the extra 0.625" That or find a late Mk1 2000 crank 🤔 I think the very early GT6 had the 2" mains crank ?? Not sure when Vitesse went 2 litre - was it when they were still on 2" mains ?
  9. At least 10 miles to see 75-80 deg on my 2000, no oil cooler - more on a cool day
  10. I never have an issue in Oz and thats after leaving cars in quite a condensation prone shed over winter often for months
  11. IWIS chains have a beautiful polished finish on the links where they run on the guides and are simply the best quality chains I have ever seen. I also use them on my 6 cylinders I would not trust "'German" chains in a plastic bag - IWIS come in an obvious branded box
  12. One of the Stag chains (the longer one?) is the same IWIS part number as a V8 Jaguar
