  1. Hi John I'm with you on that one. I think it cleans up the back end nicely. It's a mod I made to my 1969 Mk2 back in the 1980s, taking the opportunity to infill the original reversing light holes when carrying out repairs after I got rear-ended at a pedestrian crossing. Your best bet might be somewhere like Spitfire Graveyard. Regards Ian F
  2. Hi Nick(s) I have used Denso tape on my Mk2 spring. It is used in the construction industry typically for wrapping burried metal items etc. and should be available from good builders merchants. 'Orrible' stuff to handle but the surface does evently become less tacky as it matures and it certainly keeps the spring 'nice and fresh'. Regards Ian F  ;)
  3. We attended the Sixpenny Handley Control as spectators/supporters (White GT6 Mk 2) and were waved into the car park with great flourish and received a friendly greeting from the marshalls, even though we were'nt actually in the event. I know , I know , I should have done it, but hopefully next time !!! We found the atmosphere really great and enjoyed seeing so many Triumphs being used properly. They do all sound quite unique !! Congratulations to everyone who entered and completed the event. Regards Ian F ;)
  4. Back in mid 80s I found a Mobelec Magnum electronic ignition system on a crashed GT6 in my local scrappie. Secured for a very few pounds, I fitted it to my own GT6 with excellent results, much smoother running and less pinking.... my distributor was 100k old by this time. Ran it like this for years including a trip to Italy. Toured all through France, through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Florence and back. Then car wouldn't start coming off the ferry at Portsmouth. Had to be pushed off the ship (feeling a bit dissapointed), but then fitted the old points and condenser and static timed with a bulb, wires and crocodile clips (carried for this very eventuality) and drove home. Sent the system back to Mobelec for a diagnosis....nothing to loose. A package came back a few weeks later, with a note saying intermittent fault, lifetime guarantee, here's a new unit. Well pleased!! Unit has run faultlessly ever since and is still in the car to this day.... I would still carry the spares though !! Ian F  :)
