  1. Hi I had this issue but fitted a race style alternator tensioner and trimmed it to fit. Not only does it make the adjustment really easy, no lever bars needed, it also irons out the differences in minor belt size differences… You can see it in this photo :o)) eBay listing 185052086831
  2. I would be interested, one last hurrah before separating the body from the chassis for this winters improvements….
  3. We purchased ours in Dec 2014, each winter we do a bit more and then do “stuff” with her during the season … she’s starting to look ok and mechanically she is brilliant but it has taken a good few years and £’s to get to this point … was it worth it? Absolutely… really enjoyed working on her (well most of the time anyway) and she’s better and more fun to drive than I ever expected … if you enjoy the tinkering, go for it !!!
  4. I’m 6’3 and probably 16st and I fit, despite the fact I also have to negotiate a roll cage and sparco race seats 🫣
  5. Is anyone going to the “Historics on the Hill” event at Lydden Hill on the 25th? it’s put on by the HRDC and usually has quite a good following…
  6. Speedy cables did a first class job on mine and, according to the Satnav, it reads spot on too…
  7. The Accuspark option is a fit and forget solution - do get the whole kit as you will need the (different) electronic coil and different plugs that come with it…
  8. I fitted just such a kit to my friends car in Finland a few weeks ago - works a treat 👍🏻
  9. If a Sprint, then again at a thousand miles too…
  10. Warm when you retorque it … I’d put water in it, run it for 15-20 mins, then let her cool down to warm and retorque the head (not when she’s hot or cold)…
  11. You don’t want it “hot” … just warm
  12. Hmmmm not good, I've had the same issues as everyone else !
  13. Hi I can’t advise on the “Blockley” tyre but I use Avon CR6’s on the road and they are mustard This link will take you to Longstone Tyres who are the leading authority on classic car tyres 👍 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/triumph/spitfire.html Hope this helps :0))
  14. I’ve got one for a Spitfire 1300 if that’ll work??
  15. Wheel arch issues resolved 🤭
  16. Thanks Mike, she’s home this evening …
  17. Sorry guys my misses is in hospital and I can’t come- hope you all have a great day !! Hopefully I’ll be back for the Hughes Rally at the end of the month and maybe the North London & Herts meet tomorrow night… Have fun !
  18. I’ve had to pull the propshaft out again too as the balancing weights came off on the trip down and she was vibrating quite badly past 55… it’s never straightforward 🙈🙈
  19. “ @65redspit are you tempted to try skinnier tyres that fit in the arches next time?!” Yes but it happens with the road tyres occasionally too … I was trying to be too clever, the ones I was using I had bought for my Dolomite Sprint thinking I could potentially use them for both cars… if I get my arches sorted I potentially can - didn’t help on the day limiting my suspension travel and the concern the issue might shred a tyre mid-session !!
  20. He is an excellent driver, for sure, follow his lines they are spot on 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  21. Pete, great video, thank you so much for sharing 👍🏻🏁🏁
  22. Good to meet you too - good luck at Thruxton !!
  23. It was excellent - great to meet you all, hopefully next time my tyres will fit in the arches 😂
  24. About to add oil to the diff, test drive, then start final prep work before heading off to Wiltshire…. VERY excited but talk about leaving things til the last minute !!!
