  1. Hi Nuala out of interest, did the MSUK allow you to use twin DCOEs ? They will approve mine for appendix K racing but not road rallies br Paul
  2. I’d be up for it - I used to have a place on the Route des Grande Alpes just south of Thonon les Bains, so if you want a hand with the northern part of the route (eg sections of the Morzine Mount Blanc Historique) I’d be happy to give some input…
  3. Indeed - that’s why she’s had to go back to the roll cage people !! Anyway, I’ve just fitted a new clutch release bearing and bolted the bell housing to the box … Little steps …
  4. My engine and gearbox are built but not in the car yet… Car is still at the roll cage company, in fact she’s only just arrived there… Otherwise we are all good to go 😳 What could possibly go wrong lol :0))
  5. Call Colin at AtSpeed Racing (01268 773377) - specialists in setting up Carbs (& inj) but their dad there is incredible with SU's They will custom make your jets using their dyno to ensure incredible accuracy - so you can see exactly what you are getting - they do half the fleet of historic racing cars out there. I had the SU's on my old 1300 spit engine done by them and the transformation was simply astounding...
  6. Was anyone driving a dark blue, late model spit, with the roof down between St Just and St Ives yesterday (Friday) afternoon??? Nice line through the bends and plenty of right foot 👍💪👍
  7. I, for one, think the website is extremely important. I don’t use Faceache and if everything migrated to there I would simply join another club because I’m not prepared to share my personal information with such an organisation...
  8. Interestingly enough I enquired for the 2022 event, asking the ACM which of my cars they would be most likely to give an entry to; 65 Triumph Spitfire ’70 Porsche 914/6-GT ’77 Dolomite Sprint they replied that “the committee would give preference to the Spitfire...”
  9. I've got a complete bonnet - the nose cone is a mess but the wings are pretty good, depends on whether you just want rust free or perfection. The only thing is you would have to wait a couple of months for them...
  10. I built mine myself. I used to build race engines professionally so not necessarily advocating you do it yourself but, if you do, I can highly recommend Oselli Engineering to do any head/machine work/balancing - they just did my 1200 and, after completing the 10CR, can vouch for the quality of their work. Get the SUcarbs set up by a specialist, on a dyno, who can make up needles to match your individual engine. Follow the basics, do this and you will have a sorted motor and the satisfaction of having put it together yourself.
  11. Having spent the last month rebuilding mine before the 10CR, and only getting it running this week, you have my sympathy - hope fitting the 1296 goes smoothly...
  12. I’ve a mk2, I left my in the sunshine for a couple of hours, it becomes really plyable. After fitting I hosed it down to cool it off and it formed its shape quite nicely.,,
  13. Hi Everyone Has anyone got a good dolly bonnet they want to sell please? Many thanks Paul 07879437498
  14. If Mk2 ones would work, ours is currently off the road. You would be welcome to borrow ours as a template. In fact we could try and negotiate a discount if they made 2 sets up... any more takers??
  15. Does the person have to be a member? I’ve got a mate who is really into Triumphs who would love to go No he does not, only one has to be CT member... @ Nuala, still plenty of time to get Billy Nomate teamed up. I'm sure there will be other candidates piping up. It is after all a fantastic event, and, sorry Tim, I think it is even better than the RBRR, more satisfying because more scenery, social involvement... and less stressful. But then that could be because of my penchant to do things the challenging way.   D My friend, Mel, would be very keen if you want his contact details?

  17. Don & Dirk, thanks for the support, look forward to meeting you in France :o))
  18. Well I've not been on a 10CR, or any CT Rally for that matter, before - our car 'Ziggi' one of the 'Plenty of Spitfires' - is currently getting new floorpans and sills and we are also awaiting a wiring loom and it would be good to lighten and balance the bottom end too - so plenty do before the off :o)))
  19. We are signed up too - very, very excited to part of this event and our first Club Triumph event !!
