  1. Hi Roger I have used Hammerite Rust Remover, which actually seems to work. It’s quite slimy AND it’s green! I’ve used it on two restorations so far. It’s non-toxic and mainly contains Citric Acid. I just brush it on thickly, leave it overnight, then re-wet it with water, wire brush it with a rotary power device and clean off. obviously, for deeper rust it’s going to need more applications. 2. This video may provide an answer. Different brand name but locking mechanism may be the same. It’s possible when it fell over the rod that turns the cam might’ve come off.
  3. On an iPhone, if you hit Edit on the right, above the photo, you can rotate the photo 90 degrees each time, and re-save. Not sure if that will stay that way when uploaded, but mostly it seems to work. Same on iPad. Kevin
  4. Hi Mike I was wondering what the cost of such an event would be through a travel agency who specialise in such trips, albeit it wouldn't be a Triumph only run. I'm sure it would come out considerably more costly if a classic car, hotels and itinerary was included for the trip (for example a company who supply Trabants (God forbid🤣) do something along these lines! My fuel bill was similar along with hotel/grub and coffee costs. Expenditure on the car I did not necessarily count in as it would have been on jobs that really needed doing anyway. The organisation (thanks to Ellis Stokes and team), and the very reasonable cost of £130 per crew member made the whole trip enjoyable and at a relatively attractive cost. So, what's your wish list for the next 10CR? Could we, to do the impossible, get up through the north to see the Northern Lights for instance??! Kevin PS Is this forum using a US spell checker damn it??
  5. Hi The sat nav is about 7/8 years old I guess. Days 2/3/4 have loaded fine. Could be the memory card, as not replaced for higher spec since new. Good idea could try to cut it up into smaller sections. Kevin
  6. Hello, I am struggling to get days 1 and 5 to load on my Garmin SatNav. The error message reports 'Route is too long.' Any ideas on how to solve this please? Regards, Kevin
  7. Also remember to load a Copper Mallet if you run wires that have eared centre spinners to remove it. Or the spanner for the other type…
  8. Ring lamps are good quality and bright. I have a similar model somewhere in the garage which has a light in the end also. Only problem I found with it was that after a year or so the switch started to get difficult to press on and off.
  9. Both Clive’s and Richard’s lamps look good. I am however pleased with the rechargeable aspect of the Eecoo as it can be plugged into the car charger using cable supplied or a generic one. As said, hopefully not needed on the 10CR but always famous last words 😂. Will be definitely useful on the RBRR. Kevin
  10. True, only if broken down for some time or on a dodgy bend it might be handy, as is the Hi-viz.
  11. Hi all I’m interested to know what rechargeable light or lights the 10CR crews are taking? I’ve found a handy function on the model I’ll be using. In the event of a car electrical failure or not wanting to flatten the battery during a roadside repair, should it happen, this bright LED light will turn red with a further push of the switch and with another press it will flash red. Quite handy in poor light. It has a magnetic base so can be placed on the rear of the car in an emergency. It also has a penlight on the tip. It’s an eecoo worklight ( spelling correct, and cost me around 20 quid for a two pack with charging leads which I thought was quite reasonable. Kevin
  12. This might be what you’re looking for…? Not a video though. http://www.triumph-herald.com/bodynotes.pdf Kevin
  13. Hi Tim I just used my iPhone. If you hold your finger on the image (on iPhone) it comes up with a menu of options, one of them being ‘save to photos’. ( if saving from a post, but if already in your photos skip this step). Go to your album, find image and click on Edit. At the bottom you have a square box with extended tags and two anti-clockwise arrows. Select that, then at the top you have one grey square box with a rotational arrow on the right/top corner. Each time it is selected it will rotate the image 90 degrees. Often users forget to select Done at the bottom. If you don’t it won’t save. Whilst there you could also touch what looks like a clock image at the bottom. This will open some selections. Touch the ‘ magic wand’ and it generally auto adjusts the contrast. Again select ‘Done’. It generally enhances the image. Then add it to your post. Should work okay! Kevin
  14. ǝɯnsǝɹd ı ǝɔıןod uɐıןɐɹʇsnɐ ‘Was’ maybe….but now in UK
  15. Apparently someone used an Atlas for the RBRR a few years back. Is he still out there somewhere one wonders ?? Kevin
  16. Found problem with no overdrive on RBRR. Turned out to be the Overdrive Relay positioned up under dash and bolted through bulkhead was loose, meaning no earth for the relay. Would’ve been a 5 minute fix if I’d known! Not established problem with 3rd gear yet so box out. Worth checking if you’ve got intermittent or loss of Overdrive. Kevin
  17. I would say a truly well organised event, and hats off to Tim and all the organisers. You couldn't have done better! A great drive. I think the stats in all were pretty good considering the situations both with Covid and fuel and all the uncertainty that went with it. We retired unfortunately with a few issues with the car, none of which plagued us in 2018. We lost O/D which was not the end of the world, but was putting us behind, then 3rd gear, then carburettors playing up which we put right twice, then wipers. I'd also say a big shout out for the guy at the Sea View hotel! He showed real commitment to the cause, and I think he deserves a few nice Google reviews on his site! Kevin
  18. I’ve not had a problem peeling off stickers, and the 2018’s came off relatively easily. When peeling I did not pull ‘outwards’ but it peeled back along the sticker, as pulling outwards might encourage the paint to pull away. I fixed them with a spray of water, damped slightly with a rag, then stuck on. Kevin
  19. I managed to get a tank full last night after queuing for about an hour. Not sure about getting back Sunday night. Might well be Monday! 😆
  20. Agree with all that…Don’t Panic !! said Jonesy. Couple of points though.. Due to the situation will we be given updates via the RBRR WhatsApp on the current situation at Services, or where or who has fuel for sale on or near the route, i.e will crew members give us feedback via WhatsApp on where we can obtain Super unleaded? Is that something the Club will organise bearing in mind the exceptional circumstances of the situation? I think this needs to be addressed/ debated/ clarified rather promptly for damage limitation on the Run and to ensure we all stay as safe as possible in my view. Secondly, check your breakdown insurance. I’m with A Plan and after enquiring found we are NOT strictly covered for breakdown recovery if due to no WATER, OIL, or FUEL. The chap I spoke with couldn’t answer my query positively and went off to double check as running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere at 4:00 am could be a reality! In my case he came back and said I would be recovered to the nearest fuel station or a 10 mile ( or thereabouts) radius. At least I could get recovered to safety in this event. So I would urge you to telephone and double check with your insurer or breakdown agent. I would also say don’t enter Motorways IF you are low on fuel! Last thing you want is not being able to refill on the Motorway and be stranded on the hard shoulder, which if a Smart Motorway might not even have one! My advice only. Kevin
  21. I’m currently using Green Stuff pads, which were used on the 2018 Round Britain Run initially. Oddly, half-way through I started suffering loud brake squeal, not just squeak, from the offside front. The pads have a rubberised backing, though I also used the anti-squeal shims in conjunction with these, which I knew was apparently not recommended. Could this be the cause? This time, I’ve replaced both pistons and seals as the piston condition was ‘borderline’, and I’ll try running it without the shims but with plenty of copper grease on the backing. I’m also reverting to DOT 4 fluid from silicone. Kevin
  22. I do have somewhere a mount with a sucker pad on it, and in the past I’ve attached it to the wooden glove box lid. It did come open once, so I got some footage of the roof! I’m trying to go for a better fixing this time,,, Kevin
  23. Just the heater cable to re-attach… Oh hang on, got to put the seats and belts back in, clean off and prime and paint a little bit of rust on the rear chassis rails, refit rear wire hubs and wheels, and fit new pistons to front callipers and change brake fluid. Apart from that, nothing! Does anyone use a Go Pro camera and if so where’s the best mounting point on a TR? Is anyone using a Facebook live feed? Kevin
