  1. Hi all we will be holding our monthly meetings at Farmer Johns 251 Aldridge Road, Streetly B74 2 DX as usual but with effect from 24th June, the monthly meeting will be on the last Monday of each Month from 6.30 pm
  2. It’s being done by a friend of Pete Jackson who’s a very highly regarded engine builder so it’ll be in good hands, I might ask if it’s worth porting a little 🫢
  3. West Midlands area meetings will now be held on the last Monday of each month with effect from Monday 24th June 2024, the venue remains Farmer Johns, 251 Aldridge Road, Streetly, B74 2 DX from 6.30 pm
  4. Hi Clive iMabel is a 12/50 so has a mk2 spitfire cam shaft . I’m having the engine completely machined top to bottom oversize pistons to suit and also crank bearings and thrust washers to suit, , new valves, guides springs, hardened seals, new cam followers, oil pump, timing gear, and anything else which need replacing so should get her sorted Thanks Clive 😊
  5. It’s pretty much the same engine, as 13/60 signifies 1300cc and 60hp hence the 13/60, most small chassis triumph engines can be easily fitted into other small triumphs so it’s nothing too unusual to find this, as lots of these older cars are made up of bits of others, - we call them bitsas - as in bits of this and bits of that, just enjoy your car Hope this helps 😊
  6. Look forward to seeing you both safe journey
  7. Hi you could try Canley classics, they may be able to help or give advice

  9. Is it an iPhone or android, not a clue with android sorry but iPhone you just go on the the site, click the up arrow on the toolbar at bottom of the screen scroll up the options, Then open in safari then save as a bookmark or add to home screen
  10. They usually have an olive and fit into a union on the back of the waterpump housing Not sure that we get discount Steve, there’s no actual club app but I saved the website on my phone Home Screen so I now just click on the icon and I’m in
  11. There’s usually more to do than you think once you start 🙄
  12. Hi Glang, on the Herald you need to remove carburettor , inlet and exhaust manifolds and to unbolt the exhaust bracket on the bell housing it’s a faff lol the water return pipe can be changed without removing the ancillaries by feeding it behind the manifold.as with the Vitesse but can’t get to the core plug without removing all the above, I suspect that Steve has insoected the core plug too which explains removal of carb, manifolds , exhaust etc
  13. That’s bad luck I had the core plug behind the manifold leak on Mabel I fitted a new stainless water return pipe on her too
  14. Thanks for the tip I’m just waiting to hear from the engine reconditioner to know when he can do it
  15. Cleaned up one of the pistons today looks to be original and Std. Not oversize so the engine hasn’t had any machining in the past
  16. West Mids group at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire , 15 car s in total, a couple of moderne as the triumphs were out of action I took my Mk3 Astra as substitute for Mabel , A really great drive it day
  17. You could have grilled dragonfly for breakfast
  18. Water return pipes are available from Fitchetts they will post them to you usually £5 postage tel: Telford 01952 619585 There are two types, the 948 & 1200 are straight through but the 13/60 has an extra outiet on the side so make sure you ask for the correct one
  19. Thanks Amy that’s the conclusion we reached, suspect it caught in the rather pronounced ‘lip’ at the top of the bore on the stroke and tore a chunk off the top ring. engine recondition being sorted in next couple of weeks
  20. Really enjoyed watching that episode, Henry makes me giggle I watch all his programmes shed and buried and find it fix it drive it need Sam lovegrove though
  21. Hope you can find a suitable project Lucas, We all have a deep love of these cars and encouraging a young man into the world of classic cars can only be a positive step forward, the younger generation are the future for our cars so I hope you find your perfect car
  22. What do you think caused the piston ring to shatter like that Any , it’s been suggested overheating but I haven’t had an overheat issue with the car since I’ve owned it
