    Had anyone ever removed and refitted a 1200 Herald engine without taking off the bonnet, if so is it difficult as I am loathe to take the bonnet off if it can be done , as it fits really well and I don’t fancy trying to re-adjust the fit if it gets disturbed , I know they can be a nightmare !! The plan is to get the ancillaries and the head off, leaving a short engine to remove and vice Versa on the refit any comment/advice gratefully received

    13/60 are usually top entry, the early 1200 12/50 and 948 had side entry 😊

    It’s a 1500 Darren days they’re all noisy lol , also it has a Stainless steel exhaust which is quite loud much easier on the vocal chords to chat while travelling now 😂 still got the gearbox tunnel to soundproof yet

    I was busy last week when Darren came down to Hednesford, we did a little bit of fettling on Marmite and I made a soundproof mat for under the bonnet , stuck with spray carpet adhesive. Result

    I’m going to the club dinner 9th March if anyone can get it there, I can then transport it 25 miles north of Birmingham for Sam, Darren can then take it to Lincolnshire which is much nearer

    Going for a full top to bottom rebuild, head with hardened stem seals, rebore and crank grind, no points in messing around might as well go the whole hog 🐷 she is a pig lol

    So we suspect Mabel spun a big end a couple of weeks ago, so tomorrow begins the engine strip down ready for reconditioning . She will be transported to my stable yard on Sunday where there’s a bigger place to work on her and plenty of room to store all the bits we remove I’ll keep a picture diary of the process and keep the progress updated

    Hi Pete, CT pony express here lol if you buy the one from Fitchetts, I can go and collect it on Saturday to save you postage cost and Darren can take it home with him and arrange to get it to you or we can bring it to the annual club dinner, depends how soon you need it x

    I enjoyed the weekend, we just were unlucky in that our usual route on M42 was closed at junction 6 exit for a bridge demolition so we had to go further down the m6 onto the A46 and there was an accident with 2 Lorries and a car just before the Stoneleigh turn off causing a 10 mile tailback on the Saturday, just purely bad luck
