  1. Good luck Lucas, I do hope someone can find you a car to work on its very nice to find a young man who is interested in a project at a young age well done you 👏
  2. Cute little tweeties be lovely too see them develop
  3. Engine out today and investigative surgery, end shells just started to wear but more intriguing was finding that a piston ring had broken on piston No. 3 and had erupted through the side of the piston Explains the metal deposit on the piston crown
  4. I think so - Fitchetts are dearer too
  5. I had the solex on my 12/50 rebuilt it did cost £130 and another £60 to have it tuned but worth every penny but I live in Staffordshire so it’s a long way from Kent
  6. Hi Steve, to private message just click on the name of the person you wish to message then you will go to their profile and the option to email via the forum is there
  7. So I have changed the setting in my phone to JPEG and still the website refuses to add photos, even ones that I have posted in the past it’s very frustrating don’t know what to do about it other than give up trying 🤷🏻‍♀️

I only know from removal and refitting the one on Mabel my 1965 12/50, about the side tensioners as far as I know they are renewed when the sunroof is refurbished or a new cover is fitted as original ones are very weak webbing type fabric, so cord ones are usually the replacement, don’t know about later ones . Don’t know about availability though but there is a company in Kings Lynn who might advise it’s MFR Classic cars 01553 844004 or 07970 785284
  9. It’s optional but proceeds from each sale go to childline as FBHV support this charity
  10. Not sure how to Tim, but if you Google drive it day 2024 the link is there
  11. hi everyone, just ordered my drive it day plaque, if you haven’t ordered yet there’s up to 2 weeks delivery time so order quickly 😊
  12. Hi Glang, One of our group has had the very same ones in his herald for 4 years and still as good as new, he recommended paddocks to me, hopefully mine will last just as well 😊
  13. James paddock sell them and they’re excellent quality but not exactly cheap, I bought a pair about 18 months ago and cost about £75 I think for the pair but they fit perfectly
  14. You do have to remember to take them off 🤣🤣
  15. Darren bought us both a pair of amber wrap around anti glare glasses, they’re great 👍
  16. Now then Baldrick what’s your cunning plan 🤣

They all need more work than you think once you get them home, I’ve had mine since 2020 and still needs work, just taking the engine out for a rebuild as we think the big end bearing has spun 🙄 your car looked not too bad but the sunroofs are nearly ajways in need of repair, I managed to get one on eBay but I did end up paying as much as it would have cost to get mine re-covered. It’s a matter of getting your car how you want it and not how anyone else thinks it should be, I’ve lost my patience on more than one occasion but I’ve still got Mabel lol .. they’re old cars so we must try to preserve them . I hope you have hours of fun and can withstand the odd times when you might feel a little frustrated . Keep going Steve 👍

  20. Thanks Amy, I’ve got a few new bits already inlet & exhaust valves, springs and guides, new pressure relief valve, thrust washers (std) hopefully they’ll be ok to use theres no end float, top and bottom gasket sets, timing chain & tensioner kit, timing cover seal , new core plugs ( she has the old welch plugs bash flat type ! lol) , new oil pump, l I will leave the pistons and shells to the machine shop, don’t know how much they’ll have to take off . Great fun taking it apart though
  21. That would make sense Amy I could see that they were very very corroded through the ports thanks for that xx
  22. I’ve decided to rebuild this engine, I’ve got refurbed HS2 carbs on an original exhaust manifold and D type overdrive gearbox to fit so it makes sense to keep her own engine. The 1500 engine is always a spare for Darren’s dolomite
