  1. Weird, I've had as many, if not more downloads of the entry form for this as the summer rally, but only 4 entries posted? Maybe I'll get a flurry of them in the next few days So, as another one dropped through the letter box yesterday, I'll start posting entries; 1) Richard Warr, Lynn O'Halloran - 2000 Mk1 - Worcestershire (Novice) 2) Rob Pearce, Iris Chiu - Vitesse - Cambridgeshire (Beginner) 3) Charlie Deards, Matt Roughton - 2500S Estate - Hertfordshire/Warwickshire (Novice - Matt is navigating) 4) Phil Stanley, Simon Moy - GT6 Mk2 - Kent/Derbyshire (Novice) Good range of cars so far, and nice to have a GT6 along too.
  2. Still only three entries... I know it's more than a month away, but the entries have been open nearly 2 months!! Have I missed something on the dates and it clashes with another big event??
  3. Cheers Nick, that'll be an easy one to assess - I'm in the midst of electrics on the Volvo, so whilst I have all of that kit out I may as well check on the earth wire too.
  4. Cheers, I'll weigh up between Fitchett's +postage and getting them direct from Canleys.

  6. The ones I dealt with were indeed moulded fibreglass - but where the dials fit didn't have depressions moulded in to make it easier to cut correctly, but then I think more of the cars I worked on were the factory built ones, I don't remember many kits (I'll point out now we only had something like 6 or 7 G15s through the doors...)
  7. Might be an error on their website then, LH Door Skin Repair panel - £120. RH Door Skin Repair panel - £22.50... Unless they are low on stock of the LH panels and selling them of for more to cover the cost of the next production batch?

  9. Cracking, that gives me some idea of how high up the door skin the repair sections go. Looking at that, of the 6 doors I have only three or four will be repairable without a full skin. Will probably get mine from Canleys when I get round to it as they're local to my parents... and Fitchett's say one side is £120!! Can get a whole skin for less!

  11. That's how they came from the factory John... at least I don't remember seeing one that looked massively 'productionised' whilst I was there. lots of fermented ternips in that part of Suffolk 😉
  12. Nick, it feels like it's actually 'missing' as the car stutters and actually slows down. I completely forgot the old choke trick (calm down Ferny...), but as AJ is at her families this weekend I'll have two whole days to play. If there's a chill in the air on Sunday morning I may take the Mk1 for a blatt down the Fosse Way (Roman road, so nice and straight), and when it misses I'll try tugging the choke and see what happens. There is a good gap on the points, and the spark is strong on it. I'll try and borrow a decent timing light too so I can double check that. I shall report back over the weekend.
  13. I've been through that a few times before on here and elsewhere and I have never had success with electronic ignition. Mainly because if it fails it usually means the car is just plain dead and it's hard to differentiate between a knackered wire or a whole unit. I've tried a few different types, and I always come back to points being more reliable over all. Plus it seems daft to me to say 'fit electronic ignition, and keep a set of points in the glove box just in case' - why not just fit points and then have a set of points in the glove box 'just in case'. So yeah, thanks, but I'll stick with points - or if no-one knows how to get a hold of this Dizzy Doctor person I'll consider a 123 dizzy etc if funds allow.
  14. Hi all, I recently took my 2500 Mk1 down to Bicester Heritage for the Sunday Scramble, and whilst the car cruised 'okay' it wouldn't accelerate. So I couldn't drop a cog and floor it to overtake. The car would cruise up to speed (managed to get to 85, gradually), but it couldn't accelerate hard. By the fact the car would cruise at a comfortable speed, but couldn't accelerate hard, I'm wondering if the issue is spark related rather than fuel? The issue also got worse when the engine was up to temp, which happened on RBRR too. Maybe it's the condenser or coil breaking down when hot? I have a few spare coils knocking around I can use, but does anyone have any ideas on condenser? I have heard good things about the ones Dizzy Doctor supplies, but he/she/they NEVER respond to my emails. I've tried to contact them quite a few times but no luck. Does anyone know if they have an active online shop now or a phone number I can call them on? Chris Witor's shop lists 'dizzy doctor' but when I ordered them they didn't have the 'DD' logo and came in a Lucas box which makes me think they're not genuine! Not trying to say this is something Chris has done himself, it could be his supplier etc, but either way, I don't see why DD items would come in Lucas branded boxes!
  15. Hi Nathan, One or two cash payments are fine as I can use that to offset some of what I reclaim from the club for booking the hall at the start and buying the breakfast food etc.
  16. I guess you're the Phil that emailed myself, Ellis and Mike earlier then? Please to have you aboard! You'll be pleased to know that I've dialled back the difficulty on this one after last years *ahem* 'feedback'.
  17. Also, does anyone know how high up the door the repair skins go? I've seen on Canley's website they also have door shell repair sections. I was thinking of cutting the bottom off the skin to see how bad the shell is, but i don't want to cut too much off the skin and then find I need a whole new skin! I also have a NOS door that's never been fitted, but that one is being kept for a very special project 😉

  19. Sam, that's a shame - but there are plenty more coming this year - most are in the south of the country, and then there is my summer treasure hunt which is usually good fun. Nathan, yup, there is still space on the event. If you want you could give me your entry form and payment at the TDC/CT meet next week (If I've remembered your user name correctly!).
  20. On the subject of door skins (I said DOOR skins!), I've got a number of doors which need a new lower skin section letting in. Where is the best place to get lower skin repair sections from these days? I know my old Herald had them done on one side of the car. Is it the usual suspects, Canleys/Fitchets/Chic etc? Anyone know if they're all the same quality etc?

  22. 20mm on an Imperial car? Shocking!! That's like when you measure a custom prop shaft as 33", 4mm, and a taste more. 😉

  24. Sorry Richard, I can not now be certain of you getting 1st overall as I now have entries from Matt and Charlie and Rob and Iris, although Rob and Iris are in the Beginnner class. I'll start adding entry details when a few more trickle in.
  25. Anyone fancy this other than Richard?? I know it's some time away, but still only 1 entry? I might have to cancel or open to other clubs at this rate!
