If concerned, post the RMS output of the stereo (usually about 1/20th of the claimed max peak etc etc etc) Clive, Ive just had a look at the stereo and under power output it says 40w x 4 , no mention of rms anywhere... jamie Jamie
  2. Cheers Clive , will have a look at the rms when I get home . I will only be using 2 speakers.
  3. How does everyone else get round this with installing radios?
  4. Thanks roger, Electrics are completely standard, im planning on adding a radio rated at 200watts and some 55watt bulbs. Do you think this will  be a problem? Thanks Again Jamie
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone. Alec, When i purchased the car it was a complete wreck and didnt have any headlights fitted so i cant tell what rating was used. I think i will fit some h4 bulbs for easy maintenance with relays. Hopefully this will protect the wiring/switches and improve brightness The main worry was having a flat battery after doing this if the dynamo couldnt cope. But if its just engine speed that effects it i shouldnt have any problems once its back on the road  ;D

Had no problems but I did always intend to fit an alternator but never got around to it. I'm sure they would be brighter with one, but they are still a lot better than the original sealed type. Alex Thanks Alex, Have you got relays fitted? and when you say halogens are you using h4 bulbs? Jamie
  7. Thanks for the help guys. I currently have no headlights. Would fitting relays + halogens with these low wattage bulbs be a good idea? http://click-parts.co.uk/files/details.php?id=595
  8. Damn, is there any way round it? About 3 months ago i purchased a new dynamo and control box. :B Would like to keep them if i can... Car is still being restored/put back together, just trying to sort out electrics.
  9. Hi Guys, It seems that upgrading to H4 bulbs with 2 relays fitted is a good idea. Is it possible to do this when my mk3 spit is running a dynamo and not an alternator? :-/ Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Jamie
  10. Cheers guys 1st class help as always !
  11. Thanks for the replies guys, as Clive said I can find any decent 015 batts. Does it matter which side the + - terminals are on ? Found some yuasa and Bosch 063's for 35 quid delivered   :)
  12. Hi everyone, I'm  just starting to get the electronics together on my restoration. Can anyone tell me the best size battery to buy? There seems to be several different sizes listed. Car is a 1970 mk3 spit running a dynamo. Thanks in advance Jamie
  13. Hi  tictor , I done this a few weeks back. Soak the new bushes in hot water then with plenty of washing up liquid compress the bush with a pair of long nose pliers and poke through the hole. A screwdriver also helps to poke through. Just don't slip and take your knuckles off like I did haha :B Cheers Jamie
  14. Thanks all, what is the purpose of the clip on rimmers picture "608817"?
  15. Thanks for the advice/ pictures , so am I right in saying you have to drill through the boards to attach the hood frame?

  24. Hi Wimpus, Yes the Invoice says it is a GMC 220... this is the link http://jamespaddock.co.uk/parts.aspx?categoryID=22&vehicleId=2 The strange thing is i compared it to the one i took off the car before restoration and its the same. The car was in such a state to know if the bonnet clashed though.....
