  1. Hi Jason, I'm running a Bosch S4 063 battery on my Mk3 Spitfire and its been perfect, highly recommended, it also comes with a 4 year guarantee. £39.00 Delivered if you use discount code "CLUB2008OC" http://www.eurocarparts.com/ec.....37&0&cc5_993 Regards Jamie
  2. Hi All, Problem finally solved 🙂 It turns out my brake master cylinder bracket was incorrect as previously suggested. I purchased the correct bracket (Part No 146413) which has a shallower angle and a hole in each side. My bracket had no holes in the sides and was the same angle as the clutch bracket, causing the reservoir to sit too high. When the new bracket was fitted along with this 0.625" brake master cylinder the clearance is as it should be. http://race.parts/Catalogue/Br.....ral-Master-Cylinders I had to remove the push rod from the old master cylinder and fit it to the new one which was a 5 second job. Just a case of removing a circlip, greasing and refitting. Thanks for everyone's help on this, no more reservoir rubbing on the bonnet 😎 Jamie
  3. Thanks for the advice Jens , I think that's what I'm going to do, not too keen on the idea of using another clutch M/C with a small reservoir.
  4. Thanks Harry, that's exactly the master cylinder i'm after! It looks to be an original type, here is a photo I took from the owners handbook. Is there a part number on the casting at all? Jamie.
  5. Hi Harry, Those all seem to be clutch master cylinders with the smaller reservoirs? Any chance you could post a picture up of your set up? Cheers, Jamie
  6. I've found a few pictures like the one below. The M/C is a metal reservoir one, the brackets are at the same angle as mine. I just cant find anywhere selling that particular M/C which seems to be the right one.
  7. Cheers Danny, I notice your brake master cylinder bracket is more angled towards the car. That must reduce the height a bit. I wonder if that bracket would work on a mk3 aswell as a 1500...
  8. Thanks for the replies all, I had a look in the Mk3 owners manual. There is a picture of the master cylinders. The Master cylinder shown in the picture looks similar to this one, but at £120 its not cheap.... Is there any risk in using another clutch master cylinder?
  9. Thanks for the replies all, Can anyone please post a link to the right master cylinder? The one fitted at the moment is a GMC224 and I know the GMC220 also doesn't fit from previous experience (see picture below). Which master cylinder are you guys using on your mk3's? Jamie
  10. Hi Guys, Having some issues with my brake master cylinder fouling the bonnet. I have witness / rubbing marks where the bonnet rests on the reservoir 😲 Can anyone post up some pictures of theirs so I can see where i'm going wrong? Cheers! Jamie
  11. Thanks for the advice guys!
  12. Thanks all will try the AAT's and try to locate some yellow springs. Air filters are the skinny type, what other options are there?
  13. Hi Guys, Its been a while since I last posted on here, but I need some help with carb needles/performance. Im currently running the standard "BO" needles, these are the fixed type not sprung loaded. I have no problems with the current setup but wanted to know if I could improve performance with a different needle? The car is a 1970 mk3 O/D. Standard HS2's Full stainless sytem (extractor manifold and twin exhaust) Pancake filters. Thanks For your help! Jamie
  14. Thanks Hugh , glad the thread has helped!

    Spit Mk3 seats

When I refurbished my mk3 seats i purchased allot of the parts from james paddocks . The foams etc are quite a bit cheaper and I think paddocks are supplied by newtons anyway ! This link might help http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl?m-1369041183/s-0/ Cheers Jamie
  16. Cheers Colin , I didn't really want to resort to using rimmers , but on this ocassion it looks like I'll have to . Jamie
  17. Hi All, Can anyone tell me what the correct hood bag for late 1970 mk3 spit is? Trying to order one but there are so many variants. Is there a difference between mk iv and mk3 ones? Cheers Jamie
  18. Found this online today, it seems to change everywhere i look  :-/
  19. Hi All, Could anyone please tell me which is the correct way to install the door handles on a mk3 spit? Cant seem to find a definitive answer.. :-/ Thanks Jamie

    hood frame

Hi all, Is sticking self adhesive Velcro loop tape to the hood frame a good idea? Does it make much of a difference ? Jamie
  23. Completely agree with the tiger seal, also keep any water out. I carefully placed some weights wrapped in cloth on the trims overnight , works great.
  24. Thanks Wim that shows exactly where the tab fastens  :)
